I shop my batteries from one of the EU amazons, buying them here in Denmark are a big old no go unless i am missing out on some secret sauce.

So amazon .de or .uk are mostly it, and while that might not be China cheap, it are cheap compared to local stuff.

I don't see the clear button, as mentioned needing replaced. It must be included?

Could be a picture from before the change..
And even its a crack in the lens? Maybe it’s there test light that has been dropped daily? I know it doesn’t look like it but we just dont know the story, we just see a picture.

Please, dont worry about those details.

BTW, where were those pictures posted?

Right here. No one said it was a clear button. It is a translucent black.

Ok, I finally got a bit more info on what is causing the delays with the shipping.

It seems that there were 2 minor issues found during the QC checks that are now having to be fixed manually 1 at a time.

The first is that the rubber switch boots that should have been transparent turned out to be not-so-transparent (think when Thorfire shipped the S70 without a gray switch cover?). So they had to source replacement and are now having to install them in all 1000 lights manually.

The second was that the PCB fab house apparently flipped a 0 in the code to a 1 and caused some minor issues with the firmware. The hardware is fine, no worries. They are having to go through and reflash all 1000 drivers manually though.

Why they didn’t give us these details last week, I am not sure. My guess is they were too busy trying to work them out and with Neal at his wedding it just got delayed in reaching us.

The plus side is that they caught the issue before they were shipped out and saves everyone the hassle of having to sort these out later.

No word on when they will start shipping yet. As soon as the issues are sorted out I am sure. I am not sure if they will ship them out as they are done or if they will wait until all 1000 are ready first.

Wat you say (that 1.8kg water equals a volume of 0.0018m3) is not 100% accurate. It depends on the amount of salt for example and the temperature of the water.
Sea water is iirc more dense that non salty water. And other liquids have a different density too.
That’s the reason the formula to calculate buoyant force uses the density of the liquid.

True, but for making use of such formally proper calculation we would need specific values for a given scenario. When we just want to find out if it’s even close to floating, it really is that easy. More liters than kilograms and it will float in lake water. Less; it will not.

Of course it’s not anything like a diving light so the light being even somewhat close to a density of just 1 (kg/dm^3) is just an interesting observation, not that much of a feature. Still interesting though; other heavy duty aluminum lights of more typical smaller size are much heavier per volume.

You were expecting an answer in 26 minutes? It might be days before we see a picture of that. Please have some patience.

Thumbs UpBeer

It is indeed a very interesting discovery. With a little bit of shaving on some spots we could have had a flashlight that wouldn’t only be a king of throw but it would also float Shocked . That would be a real selling point!
Realistically though, that would require a lot of aluminium being removed as these numbers were all without the batteries and carriers installed..

Well. I did asked it a couple days ago but didn’t got any response it. Neal was very busy that time (I hope is now enjoying his personal time!) so he could easily missed that question.
Some would think that because we see only these boxes that the 2 box shipment consists of 2 of these boxes each with halve of the GT inside it?

Exactly….. And it may well be there is no picture of the two box shipping at all. You may see what it looks like when it arrives at your door.

As long as it gets delived safe & sound….. what difference does seeing a picture make anyway??

This is just a repository for older shipping news. This way it keeps post #1 smaller and easier to read.

————

The first shipment of lights (168 total) shipped on Dec 27. This was a pallet going to the USA from the first 576th person on the paid list that did NOT include batteries. Tracking numbers went out on Dec 27 and lights started arriving to customers on Dec 29th.

————

The second shipment of lights (194 total) shipped January 3rd. This was a pallet going to the USA from the first 740th person on the paid list that DID include batteries. Tracking numbers went out on Jan 3rd. Lights started arriving on January 5th.

The first 2 shipments went out by region instead of the exact order in which we paid, for cost reasons and because there were not enough DHL orders to fill a pallet for anywhere except the USA.

————

The third shipment of lights (138 total?) shipped on Jan 8/9th with and without batteries through DHL in Finland, Norway, Switzerland, Serbia, Germany, Canada, Malaysia and Australia. Some people got notifications, some didn’t. I have not heard of any registered mail packages shipping yet.

Only a few tracking numbers went out on Jan 9th and lights started arriving to customers on Jan 10th. Apparantly Lumintop was very slow to give Neal the tracking info or info on which lights they sent.

————

4 shipments have been made. A little over 600 lights in total. So there are a little over 200 more lights to ship from the current group of paid customers. This is a mix of early and late purchases. Mostly people who requested registered mail shipping.

A 4th shipment of about 125 lights went out on Jan 19th. This is a mix of USA and international orders. Several of these lights have already been delivered to Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, United Kingdom, Czech Republic, Amsterdam, Slovenia etc… FedEx and TNT are also being used.

If I read the list right..
It may be the 170 (Registered) NON – DHL shipments that has been sent off..

This is however just speculation based on how I read the list !!??.

Merry Christmas to everybody by the way..

I have no idea. I don’t even care. It will ship when its ready.

Your opinion wasn’t requested, it was a question directed at Bozlight26.
If you don’t know, don’t bother to post, especially with an attitude.

There is no breath to take here, look at my question and look at his answer. He first wrote “I have no idea” , which was ok, but then edited the post to “ I have no idea. I don’t even care. It will ship when its ready”. That’s the attitude.

I have a right to ask a simple question and receive a simple answer, some people seem to be frustrated if you even question when it might be shipped. I placed a deposit 3 1/2 months ago, fully paid 3 weeks ago, and asked a simple question. That’s all.
