I got one of these Pelican 1610 coming today from amazon to protect it. They had a special for 139.99 a couple days ago, so I’m sure they go a lot less than this. This is prob a little overkill, but I’ve waited over a year for this light and like to take care of my lights. I hope to get a second GT when that time comes, so there’ll be room for that.

I have a pelican 1450 for my EDC and I bought the Apache 3800 from Harbor Freight and it’s almost identical. I think it should be perfect (hopefully)
My friend’s GT also arrived today. He stopped by and I couldn’t resist taking a few more photos.
The GT-Dumbbell weighs 7 lb 13 oz (3.54 kilos) loaded with 8 cells.

I cut a circle from an expired credit card to keep the two carriers insulated from each other.
Yep I keep some of my most favorite lights in Pelicans because they are that good. I’ve tested them on the river, underwater, and with a cell phone in them too. No leaks. But I have two of the original Defts, one with the original OMG lumens pelican. In another Pelican case I keep a Firefox III and Firefox IV HID, and in another I keep a couple of my most favorite lights, the Neosekian Legion IIs modded with WW xm-l2 emitters. The Pelican 1610 could prob fit all of those other cases, and it’s got wheels and a pull handle, lol. It’ll be interesting if it’s as big in person as I am expecting. I know it won’t be the tallest but it may be the heaviest of my lights. We’ll see soon!

My GT left Cincinnati @ 6:22 a.m., and arrived in Austin a few minutes ago (10:37 a.m.). I live about 75 miles west of Austin, so I doubt DHL is going to dispatch a driver just to deliver my light today. Does anyone know if DHL delivers on Saturdays?
I also don’t see an estimated delivery date on the DHL tracking site for my package.
Mine showed up in Jacksonville about an hour ago. Only 250 miles from me.
Nothing really too out of the ordinary in the garage. I have an Audi in there I think is pretty neat. I’ve always have been a vw audi guy. But would love a new vette or gt350, we can dream. It’s just a hard sell, getting a pure sports car if you have wisconsin winters and a family. But I do have a remote security cameras in there so I can spy on my house. But lots of cool things in the house. We’re pretty big into home automation and gaming/vr at my house. Lots of interesting lights, some really big ones. I have an old 7D that’s big and a bigger mag mod that uses 7 26650s. I’ve always been drawn to quality stuff, not necessarily the most expensive. Some lights are super expensive because they are more works of art. I like that but I want them to be functional and perform at a higher level than . If anybody getting their GTs today doesn’t have a Q8 with the sweet user interface, you are going to be in for a treat. Easily one of the best UIs ever, thanks to Tom, TK, and all the others that made it happen.

Mine went through Greensboro, NC (says at 7:55 Eastern Time zone) and the expected delivery is still holding. Man, DHL doesn't screw around.

I discovered a budget-friendly GT cap in the pantry. Walmart’s ‘Great Value’ brand quick oats, 42 oz size.
It’s a perfect fit, and even creates an air bubble between the cap and lens if you don’t ‘burp’ it.
I’ll adhere a circle of soft cloth inside it to further protect the lens from contact with the cap.
