[PART 1] Official BLF GT Group Buy thread. Group buy officially closed! Lights shipping.

I’ve never seen that on this forum. Is it possible? Has it been done here before?

Starting a new thread reserved exclusively for shipping updates is what I was thinking. Then there’s just one place that’s always visible for that specific issue, and it frees up this thread for pics, “I got mine, I got mine!” posts, etc.

Just my $.02

Not sure. I’ve used it on other forums, but don’t have a clue if that’s possible here. It’s a great feature for these types of issues.

UPDATES: It appears that the first shipment went out by region instead of the exact order in which we paid for cost reasons. Initial quality has been fantastic.

The first shipment of lights (168 total) shipped on Dec 23. This was a pallet going to the USA from the first 576th person on the paid list that did not include batteries. Tracking numbers went out on Dec 27 and lights started arriving to customers on Dec 29th. DHL shipping was very fast.

There should be a European order going out in January.

The next group to purchase lights (#1000 and up on the list) will get their emails mid January instead of early January in order to let Neal get caught up with current orders.

I understand what you are saying JasonWW. But the Miller is not around.

I think all Jerommel was saying is to start a New GT thread where post #1 could be updated with relevant, up to date information.

Then close this thread with a link left here for the new thread.

The “new thread” would just be a continuation of this one…… with the real exception that the original post (OP) could be updated with Real Time information instead of being stuck as now with information that is totally irrelevant to what is going on now.

Whatever the reasoning was in the beginning is out the window now, due to circumstances it has proved itself flawed.

Time to move on possibly & stop trying to ride a dead horse.

My opinion, YMMV. …

Whoops! teacher beat me to it!

Well, it would be The Millers group buy if he was still here running it. I place no blame onto him, folks get sick, that’s life. But by not being here it’s no longer his group buy. It’s the group buy of the folks who are actually doing it now.

IMO, do it the way you want to. Next group buy if he wants to run it again, he goes back to running it the way he wants to. It’s no disrespect to him, but everyone does things slightly different.

One thing that i could never understand why the Mr.admin never came in to help and edit the title and some additional info into the first post.

BLF is the first forum where there is absolute absence of moderators and for me it feels weird. Getting help from mods/admins it is a good idea in such cases.

This light is the best light ever. I would like to get on the list for another one becuase having two of these is better then 1 even at a slightly higher price. Idk if I can get on the list for another but if I can that would be great

Btw thank you to everyone that was involved in the design and creation of this light. Also to thoughs that oragized this whole group buy. Amazing effort and it payed off big time. This is my fav light hands down.

We are generally a self moderating forum, with the only mod/admin being the site owner. I am not sure if anyone has contacted SB to ask if he could do such a thing. I am sure if someone asked he would consider adding info to the post

It might be he was never asked to. He is always very accommodating as far as I know.

more threads will not help... :(

just adding places to post the same questions multiple times.

Anyone else get any cracking/clinking noises from what seems to be the lens as the light heats up?

It did it when I first double clicked into turbo and it made a crack like breaking glass and my heart skipped a beat. Nothing noticeable changed, and it still functions the same.

I later used it for room illumination tail standing it on turbo for 10 minutes or so, and it made the same noise several times, but the lens didn’t crack. I haven’t removed the front bezel and I don’t plan to; I have a feeling if it was going to crack, it would be when I loosen the bezel.

Other than that, it’s very impressive! Haven’t gotten a chance to stretch it out outside yet, though.

I’ve seen such mentions on reddit.

Please add me to the list for the GT light.
Thanks

I agree. Hopefully the next group buy will be better staged to avoid what's happened in the thread. A thread like this needs moderation.

The team need to have that option to appoint volunteers for the task, if they choose not to take it on themselves.

We should make an account and there will be a team manage that account. In case someone has their own thing to do

DITO!!

Come on you lucky guys who have already received this beauty lets see a lot more beam shots please chomping at the bit to get my hands on it LOL

From what I've seen of the board, I'm led to believe the forum software is too generic for better control and moderation

Mine did the same. I figured it had to do with the massive piece of glass settling after heating up/cooling down. It has been about –5F outside when I’ve used it, coming back inside it makes some clinking noises that definitely startled me the first few times.
