Along with many others, I’m sure, I do have a slight feeling of apprehension. I found myself at #1280 on the list and waited patiently. A couple of weeks went by and got an email saying to pay. Did so, got the reply from PayPal and a note from Neal asking for BLF name and phone number. Sent those in with the PayPal transaction number. I have not seen a PM to me at all during the entire time I’ve been waiting and lurking, and no further emails at all.

With the group buy closing and so many new orders, are there those that have paid as I have but have no forum PM to back up their claim? Will we get passed by?

I am waiting to send out anymore PM’s until all the existing orders are (almost) complete. So not to worry, there will not be any cutting in line.

Now the next set of PM’s could be a first come, first served basis if we should happen to sell all 1500 but we will cross that bridge when we get to it.

There are only a few hours left till the GB closes. Say 3 hours so it ends at midnight central standard time.

I tried a ceiling bounce.
Ramped all the way, 160 lumen.
Turbo, 175 lumen.
It’s pretty hard to see with your eyes, but the meter shows it.

Should not it be 20%?
Yours is like below 10% boost to Turbo.

This is normal due to the laws of diminishing returns as power increases. Remember we are already twice the rated power at 2A.

No, at that upper limit of output, 20% more current only give a tiny bit more output. Most of the extra current gets turned to heat.

Current boost from 2A to 2.5A right? So it is 25% boost of current, no?
Ya, i understand the curve of efficiency. I thought GT percentage of output is calibrated to match real lumen output in design phase. But i didn’t follow GT development closely.

Not sure if i should fork the cash & order a second one in case the first one i ordered don’t arrive.

Why would you think it won’t arrive? Is it sarcasm that your waiting too long or do you think it might get lost in shipping?

If it gets lost I’m sure Neal will make it right.

I’m just concerend as i never received any email confirmation or anything when i sent payment & placed order. (zero reply or email) I used to always get some kind of email confirmation from the seller. nothing now for a month. Everyone else here say they got a email confirmation or something when they place their order.

As soon as the order was placed you should have gotten an email or text from Paypal. Not everyone did, but when they logged into their paypal account, the transaction was there.

Most people also got an email from Neal to confirm their phone number. Some didnt, but it’s no big deal.

So check your PayPal account to make sure the transaction is there. If so, you are good to go.

I got mine today, I have no use for a light like this, not in the least disappointed that I bought it though.

I run to do some errands, get my mind off it still being light out. (arrived in 2 days to my home from Hong Kong. Way to go DHL, that’s insane)

Setup camera on tripod to do an unboxing video. I unboxed, assembled and then shot it across our lake sized retention pond here in FL. It was a ridiculously easy test for this light, not even fun.

So I go into the bedroom where my 6 year old daughter and wife are brushing teeth. I’m holding the flashlight behind me and tell them. Hey, I was on a forum and blah, blah, blah. The name of this flashlight is “Giggles”. I pull it from behind my back and let me tell you the name is worthy of the looks I got. They both jumped out of bed to see it shine across the “lake”. But it was a joke. So I told them I was going on a drive to see if I could find a place to shine it.

That part was hard. I was headed to a sod farm but didn’t make it. I found a dark area with a tower and stopped to see what that would look like. I played with the light a few minutes, took a few really lame photos and then the light died. I’m not surprised. I was using whatever juice they showed up with.

Right now they’re on my Nitecore charger which only has 2 bays. So it’s likely going to be tomorrow for me to setup a tripod and try to take some proper photos for everyone. One thing that’s obvious is that I’ll need a fast shutter and slow aperture.

You cannot hold this thing for long away from the body. It’s definitely heavy. I’ll try to figure out photos and upload what I can to help people who are still waiting.

The GB has been open for over a year, so I would say people had plenty of time to get in on it. Most GB’s last only a few weeks or months at most.

It is sad but it had to come to an end at some point. Luckily 1500 BLF’ers got a big discount on this amazing light.

Coyotehawk (poor guy, so many new names :person_facepalming: ) will add your names to his sign up list. You’ll see your name when he does the next update. It will be sometime mid January when you are emailed with the details of where to go and how to order. (Uses PayPal, btw)

You can also buy 8 of the Samsung 35E batteries for $40 at the same time as you buy the light. No sign up necessary for those. There are plenty of batteries in stock. Just add them at checkout.

Just so people are aware, if we should happen to run out of the first 1500 lights (I doubt that will happen, but it is possible), there will be no guarantees for those over 1500. Although we will try to get lumintop to honor them with the next batch they are under no obligation to do so.

At the current rate of drop-outs we can except around 200-250 people to drop out (so the list could get to 1700-1750 people and still have enough, in theory), so this should not be a problem but I want to give fair warning since so many people are singing up here on the last day.

The alternative option is I close the GB right now and no one even gets a shot at the cheaper price. I figured people would at least like a shot at the GB price.

Agreed. Like I said, I understand why lumintop put a deadline on it. They are seeing very slim profit from this group buy I am sure. I am glad I came back to the forum when I did and snagged one for the price I did.
