[PART 1] Official BLF GT Group Buy thread. Group buy officially closed! Lights shipping.

I hope Coyotehawk didn’t pull a Miller move…hehehe…Just kidding!

I selected registered mail, I never got any tracking info. It was a nice surprise when I woke up, and the box was on the table, this light is much bigger in person than I thought it would be.

So you didn’t ask Neal to change it to DHL? It actually came registered mail? And that quickly?

I really thought these first 2 shipments where all DHL.

Did Coyotehawk millerized?

I can certainly imagine that following this thread and handling all the names and questions can surely lead to some kind of nervous breakdown at some point. The team is doing an incredible job. I hope nobody lost his health, GF/BF, job or family in the process. Thank you GT Team!

I selected registered, and left it at that, now that you ask, I looked at the box and DHL sticker is on it, shipped Hong Kong to Las Vegas NV, than US postal took it from there to Lake Havasu city, Priority two day mail. I’m happy, you guys done great, Neal done great, I payed the moment Neal put the note on facebooks flashlight fanatics.

I have been watching youtube daily for new GT videos
but the cold must be keeping people indoors as there are only a few videos to be found
I did spot a funny recently uploaded un-boxing vid,
………it looks like the foam padding does a real good job

Got only 1 of 3 today in Pismo Beach CA. Ordered and paid for 3 lights and 2 sets of batts in the 556-1038 group. DHL shipping chosen.
#’s 818, 819, 886
Paid #47 in 556-1038 Paid List
DHL handed off to USPS in Van Nuys CA. No notification of shipping or tracking number.
No outer box, just the actual box containing the light and foam.
A little disappointing that this one is the one without cells so have no way to play with it.

I selected all the same options as you and tried calling DHL today but they didn’t have any records. Hopefully everything is all good.

Man I would love to see a down range side by side comparison of a cool white vs 4000k that comes with the light. The cw certainly looks brighter to me. Anyone that has two lights coming interested? I can’t be the only one curious.

Asking for two please.

Cool white looks brighter because it “lights up the air” more (aka: diffraction). If you’re trying to light up air, make an awesome light show or play light sabers, then yeah cool white is a great choice. But if you’re trying to punch through the air and actually light up some target somewhere, warmer tints will win out. The designers here made the right choice, functionally.

…but there’s nothing wrong with cool white if its what you prefer.

GB is officially closed

Maybe he’s talking about the two he already asked for in his first two posts.

There a video recently posted with great comparison of the prototype light with cooler beam and the warmer production light.

Edit: Found it here beamshots around 3 minute mark.

With up to what the range the D1S throws, between the D1S and my GT, I do much prefer the cooler D1S 5000K. Possible even cooler, but I don’t trust myself changing LEDs.

Please add me to the list for one BLF GT

:rage: :rage: :rage: VERY seriously concerned… I’m waiting for mine to be delivered… and I’ve just come across the following on YouTube… this guy has the original ‘Giggles’ BLF Gigathrower (which is what I thought I was purchasing…) and now has just received the new BLF GT we’ve all ordered… and he compares the two… go to 03:16… he starts with the original and then fires up the new model we’re all getting… and get ready to weep… if mine performs like this with the (relatively) weak yellow beam - it’ll be getting returned for a refund.

Watch this … and weep… go to 03:16

Sorry, too late:

The warmer tint of the production model means that less light is diffracted in the air, and more of it hits the target. That’s why you get less of a lightsaber effect… Most people prefer neutral or warm white tints for throwers (when they actually want to see the things they’re pointing their light at).

It seems odd that this is your first post on BLF…?

As it has been explained many times, the more you see the beam the less light gets to the target - that’s what happens with CW tint. The T in GT is for thrower, not saber.

Unfortunately - the camera doesn’t lie… it is crystal clear from the video that the new model has a marked reduction in performance.

I know people have different preferences of tint… but in my experience of both users and the progression of recent years of flashlight development, yellow is inferior - by far.
I remember watching numerous comparison videos of stuff like the first XLH diodes etc… and the latest and best was always the ‘brightest and whitest’. It gives more clarity and is just, well, brighter.
