[PART 1] Official BLF GT Group Buy thread. Group buy officially closed! Lights shipping.

It’s not glued, but it’s really tight. I think the o-rings also make it extra hard to turn.

“Clutter” as in not related to the GT. Off topic stuff. Questions are fine.

Ps, there also the “search this thread” button at the top of the page. You can search by keyword, member name or both.

People can have whatever preferences they like re cool/neutral/warm tints, but in real world situations that DEMAND precise visual accuity virtually everyone I’ve encountered prefers warmer. Mountain biking at high speeds in rough terrain is perhaps the clearest/best example I know. Riding fast at night requires continuous and rapid assesment of the terrain. It is empirically obvious that cooler tints (even when brighter) are far less revealing of color contrast. Color contrast is essential for “deciphering” terrain. With cooler tints irregularities in the terrain ahead look rather monolithic- a dark rock looks similar to a dark hole. Thus, top speed with a cooler tint is SIGNIFICANTLY less. Every trail rider that has familiarity with different tints who I’ve discussed this with has agreed with this assessment. This idea is also well understood/accepted in the rock climbing community - many rock climbers still use incandescents. Anyone in doubt should simply try it if they are able- even riding downhill on a rutted bumpy dirt road will suffice. Try a warm tint first, go as fast as you feel safe, then try again with cool. Regardless of one’s preference for tint, the lesser depth perception and contrast of the cooler tint will force you to be more wary. I’ve never met anyone who has actually tried this that has disagreed. Cool may be “brighter”, better able to lift the veil of darkness, but when detail is essential…

yep, its matts latest video.
thought id snip a few stills of it, because its hard to tell when the lights are moving fast , like in the video
gives you a chance to really compare the 2 beams
anybody know what the actual kelvin was on that giggles proto he had in the video ?
it really does look horribly white and ghostly in the pics

is this a hard thing to do as I prefer the cooler blue look

Two more great examples of “crappy extremes”! .

They both look “unnatural”……

  • What you said above about the one on the left.
  • And the one on the right looks like it has been coated with a thick layer of Orange Jello.
……Absolutely nothing natural about that at all.
    .
And here again…. this is a general observation. Not to be confused with a complaint.
It remains the same no matter the light host.

I also find it hard to believe, as has been stated in many threads & discussions besides this one; that “most people” prefer the one on the right.

Nor do I think that “most people” who liked a cooler side of WHITE would prefer the one on the left.

I think neither of these “examples” are preferred by “most people” . .

OK & yeah the ‘stills’ are a great help. Thank you. :+1:

TA may well know the K… I think he had it first.
But your right…. it does have a ghostly look go it.

The simple answer was most often about 2 posts above the question - it is not unreasonable to expect a minimum effort - this situation happened over and over

Has the list updated with last min additions?
I see only one piece with my name.

I see, thanks.

Didnt expected BLF light to be glued but i had to ask.

your in for 2nd GT in Coyotehawk list

"Giggles" is going to be where it was intended to be. As it was on the prototype's battery tube.

I just finished re-creating it. Saved as an .EPS for the engravers

Nope…… Codyhawk is on task & up to date… :+1:

Please write me on the list for 1 BLF-GT.

Group buy is over

Too late my friend…… :frowning:
.

It's amazing how many do not read the thread title.

Their you go again accusing me, I’m guessing you want a rouse out of me. But no, I’m not going to be the reason this thread gets locked. The only thing I have to say to many and those following, the only regret I made when purchasing my BLF GT was not donating enough to the BLF GT team fund. I have the upmost respect to them because this light is amazing.

Do we think Lumintop may eventually sell the MCPCB’s as a spare part? or maybe Neal could supply them to BLF members?

I would most likely want to change mine to around 5000k, Not that I hate the current tint I honestly prefer it to the blue 6500k color. But with my experience level, the last thing I would want to do would be ruin something and put my GT out of action. A second MCPCB I could attempt to reflow would be good, just in case.

cheers

That is not a problem at all for any who forgot to donate & now wish to.

According to M4DM4X you can use the same link where you ordered the GT & just put as many $1 donations as you like in a cart. Then check out & you have donated.
