L T P;s new builds light bar complete @141

A little more progress today

mounted a alloy hyd cylinder in the lathe

did a little knurling and madea square thread

trimmed it off in the hacksaw

cleaned it up in the lathe and bored it out to suit battery holder ,pictured with what will be the head

What pitch is your square thread?
I guess you wont be out in the shed today because of the heat.

2.2 mm

a little progress today made a retaining ring for switch it will be held with a few screws from the rear
so I will now have to rewire the battery holder

next time we will start on the head.

Were you planning on using an e-switch? The tail switch is now the main switch or lock-out function?

tail clicky only, was going to be in the head but would have made the light longer

Nice work LTP!!

Nice progress

A little more progress today

Internal thread completed

Took a little to make it fit ,but happy now.

So that knurled part is 80mm in diameter?

had a few minutes ,thought I would add fins

they start at 3mm deep and finish at 10mm depth
3mm spacing , should keep it cool for the first 5 minutes,

try and do a bit more tomorrow

knurled handle 70 mm dia.head 85

Are those threads square or trapezoid? How did you cut them?

Is that a phone picture?

yes square thread pp ground my own tool slow and steady

next bit is a little boring

ended up with this

spun it around just want to shape the head a little, not sure how yet,
next week,.

and yes mrs dnf all pics are from the s5 as it is easy to upload with the app,

lostheplot
Do you have a mill?

I have this Chinese mill drill

The threads look real good LTP.

I was happy enough for my first attempt
V threads are better.

Realized I needed a bezel

skimmed bit of flat

turned it to suit

trimmed the back of the head a little

its a sizable thing

now to get time to finish and source some orings

Nice re-purpose of a cylinder shaft LTP. :+1:
