I’m planning to put only four cells in my GT.

Is there any benefit to load all eight slots apart from runtime? Like would it be brighter?
My understanding is it would not make any difference due to the rather low pull on the cells.

It only effects run time. This is a buck driver, it take the 16.8 volts and regulates it to a steady lower voltage (13 something volts, I can’t remember the exact number). So as long as the batteries stay above that specific voltage, the driver stays “in regulation” and it can deliver max power.

Once the batteries drop down in voltage (below 3.5v ?) it drops out of regulation and can not produce full power any longer so the output slowly declines.

4 30Q cells gave 45 minutes of regulated power at 2A then another 45 minutes of reduced power before the lvp kicked in. So 8 cells should double those numbers.

Maybe someone can chime in with the exact voltage this drivers drops out if regulation at.

Thanks, that’s plenty of fun ahead anyway. I’m not going on any search and rescue night op any time soon – hopefully. Wink

Thats just great, got a link you can PM me (please don’t post it)? We will have to shut it down and cancel all the recent orders if that is the case. Just what we needed.

So thanks to whoever it is that posted it, everyone will have their links canceled and we will have to resend the links out along with a lot of extra time canceling orders and sorting through this if many people saw it.

just make stock GT to zero in order page.

And change pass to next payment. If someone need link to batt or donation, they just can ask m4dm4x or team.

Comparison, GT with CW XHP-35 vs. GT with WW XHP-35, very cloudy night, light sprinkle coming down….64ºF with 75% humidity. Water tower is (still) 1.9 miles away. This time I set the 2 second timer on the camera and held the light about 8’ away to the right of the camera so the beam shot isn’t looking down the beam of light.

Base shot, (all 3 shots are with the 70-200mm f/2.8L IS lens at 200mm, ISO1600, f/4.0, 0.5 sec in manual focus from the 5D MkIV, Med Jpg SOOC)

CW

WW

I have 8 matched LG M25 18650 cells with solder blobs, I used one carrier from my light with the rear 4 in the WW GT, used the empty WW carriers in the rear of each light. So each light is running on 4 matched LG M25 cells.

Thanks for the info, someone else sent me this screen shot.

Well, thanks to this user everyone that placed an order today will have their orders canceled and the link will be disabled, meaning that everyone that got the link legitimately will also have their links disabled.

We will try to figure out how to send a new link for those legitimately on the list at a later date. For now, the order page is closed (well as soon as martin wakes up that is, please don’t try to order before it closes, that is just more work to cancel the order).

Should be able to link his name to his blf account and shun him
And cancel his order if it has not already been shipped, passing it on to another lucky member

I never support publicly dox’ing people, even if they deserve it.

If he is found on BLF, it will be handled behind the scene.

Use him as a lesson of what not to do.

If this Thomas King is a BLF member & you figure out his username…. please let us know who it is.

Edit:….. Mr. King made a mistake & has apologized. Apology accepted. Smile

What Facebook page was it on?
Maybe public shunning is too far, but taking him off the the list if he ain’t already got it would be more than fair

I thought that passwords that we received from TheMiller where 1-time use only, you use it once and then it’s automatically disabled…
Maybe you can do a script that would check if the same password was used multiple times and then identify those purchases/cancel those orders!

Maybe we need a second layer of check. After paypal payment, provide a BLF ID and list number to Neal, Neal has to check the list to match the ID and PM the BLF ID here to do final confirmation.

Cancelling a lot of orders and refund with paypal are not good solution when it happens again.

This is planned for the future but the site we are using now is still in the early development stages.

Each page is manually setup and this makes it very impractical to use unique codes for everyone.

We are looking at making smaller batches going forward, like say every 50 – 100 people. So as to reduce the impact of something like this.

So easy for stuff to get buried here, I’ll repost so it can be seen….

We already do this to some degree now, although mostly we have focused on the big influx of orders. A lot of people never send their user name or it is not spelled exactly right and makes it hard to manually check each and every order.

All it has to do it survive ~2 weeks after the next round of PM’s before the code gets out. At that point it will be a free for all for the first 1500 lights I am guessing.

Sure looks to my eyes as though the cool white is putting more light on all areas of the target. All items in the pic are easier to identify in the CW shot. Thanks for the comparison.

I agree. The CW does look like its putting more light downrange. Not enough of a difference for me to want to do an emitter swap though.

Good deed, J0sh. That's telling them. Whoever it is/was causes a lot of issues behind the scene here.

IIRC, I remember reading of this happening in other sales here. People that share stuff like that have no morals at all

I’ll be the odd man out. I like the pic with the warmer emitter better. Reaffirms for me to keep it stock, at least until a new generation of XHP35 comes out.

Thank you very much for posting. It’s appreciated.

I agree his order should be cancelled if it’s not processed yet. And he was further defending his position with no regard for others. The biggest harm may have come to those at the tail end of the GB when it’s down to who gets the last of the 1,500 lights.

I respect that this will be dealt with privately in any event.
