That’s the jaxmnve clone. Jimmy_Chimichanga said the On The Road M3 was on sale for $18. That is what I was asking about.
Sorry. Old timers kicking in. :person_facepalming:
Thanks for your answers XXX-Man!
beam0:1. Double click to ramping is from OFF or from ON? (or from either?)
2. When it enters ramping does it start on high or low?
3. Is there memory on the ramping mode?
4. Does it require a button top battery or will flat top work too?
5. Is the emitter genuine USA Cree or is it latticebright etc.?1. from ON
2. on low
3. yes
4. button top only
5. it’s genuine
So for sure you cannot enter ramping with a double click directly from off?
.
Thought this meant it did but guess not
.
………after double click it starts ramping up/down and if you make a single click it remembers the mode, even if you turn off the light…………
MascaratumB, Thanks for your answers.
In an earlier post you wrote:
It doesn’t go that UP nor that DOWN while in the “steppless dimming” mode, so it is like a no-no!
What exactly did you mean by that?
.
One thing you must be aware is the ramping mode. It is quite similar to this that freeme posted here:
Clone of On The Road M3 ~$13 - #35 by freeme
In freeme’s vid it appears when ramping reaches max or min it doesn’t blink or pause, it just immediately reverses direction. So no pause when reaches min. and no blinking when it reaches max.
.
when it starts ramping in one direction (up or down), even if you stop it, next time you hit the button it will ramp up or down, and it will only ramp in the opposite direction after reaching the top or bottom limit!
By this do you mean if you stop and then restart the ramping it will continue in the same direction as before you stopped? I only have one light with ramping and that’s what it does, so that seems normal to me. Do other ramping UI’s do something different?
OTR M3’s are $5 more than these clones right now & they respond to inquiries with more than a single word.
They even apologized for taking 2 days to put together an english translation of the M1 UI when I asked for it.
Please tell us where?
I can get the OTR M3 full kit for about $9 more, but only in CW right now.
beam0:Also a question for anyone who has both this and OTR M3: Is High on this comparable output to the OTR M3 Turbo?
No, the OTR turbo is brighter. The difference between 500 lumen and 900 lumen is not so great, but it is noticable.
beam0:I was considering the OTR M3 but I’d rather have NW than the warmer 5C of the OTR, plus I think I’ll like the ramping mode too. I’ve had the OTR M6 for several years and still carry it daily.
I have CW in both models and both are identical in tint. Not very cool in my opinion. Both have a hint of paleness. It kind of reminds me of a cree 2x color rather than a 1x. I’m gonna try a sst40 in it to see if I can’t get rid of the yellow. I’ve heard the OTR NW is also warmer than people expect. You can also play with the tint a little by changing the glass lens.
The OTR M3 and clone M3 have clear lenses. If you add an AR coated lens it makes it even more NW.
Thanks for your answers.
Ya 1x or 2x would be too cold for me and 5c (3800-4000k) probably too warm.
This is one reason this JAXMNVE M3 appeals to me, it has NW 3C which should be around 5000k

It does not register a double click from off. It sees it as 2 seperate clicks.
beam0:
- When it enters ramping does it start on high or low?
2. on low
So when starting in ramping it begins with LOW by default, but if a specific level was memorized it starts on that memorized level, correct?

You are correct in your assumption.
In Narsil you can easily reverse direction if you want. With this jaxmnve you just have to let it do what it wants.
It does not register a double click from off. It see it as 2 seperate clicks.
So double click from off does nothing, from what I can tell.
Would’ve been real nice if they made it enter ramping with a double click from off - for quick access to your desired (memorized) level.

You misunderstand.
A double click from off turns it on at the last used level then advances it to the next level.
Once you leave the ramping mode, the memory is lost. It memories every level. If you turn it off in strobe, it comes on in strobe. If you turn it off while it’s ramping, it turns on and continues ramping.
Beam0, aren’t these questions moot since there appears to be a new UI and you can’t buy the old ones any more?
Beam0, aren’t these questions moot since there appears to be a new UI and you can’t buy the old ones any more?
No, the new UI only changed the 3-mode group from MED-HIGH-STROBE to LOW-MED-HIGH, ramping should still be the same.

If you turn it off while it’s ramping, it turns on and continues ramping.
So the “ramping memory” comes on at the level you stopped ramping at, but doesn’t stay there? It just starts ramping again from that point?
If that’s what it does then ramping memory on this is pretty useless.
Once you leave the ramping mode, the memory is lost.
Then how is there ramping memory?
JasonWW:Once you leave the ramping mode, the memory is lost.

It’s not “ramping memory”, it’s memory in general.
You have to turn the light off while in ramping mode, then it will turn on at the same level it was turned off at.
