Clone of On The Road M3 ~$13

Post #923 - scroll down about halfway - it’s next to the Convoy L6’s:

So the “ramping memory” comes on at the level you stopped ramping at, but doesn’t stay there? It just starts ramping again from that point?

If that’s what it does then ramping memory on this is pretty useless.

Then how is there ramping memory?

It’s not “ramping memory”, it’s memory in general.
You have to turn the light off while in ramping mode, then it will turn on at the same level it was turned off at.

Your missing the details. I didn’t say it was stopped. I said the light was turned off while it was still going up and down. Whatever the light is doing when it’s turned off, it continues doing when turned back on.

If it’s in the ramping mode and stopped at a certain level and you turn it off, it will turn back on at that same certain level.

Does that make sense?

As it was said before, the ramping feature of this light is not very good. I would much prefer a simple low, med, high. Like 10 lumen, 150 lumen and 500 lumen. That’s all you need. Right now it’s like 150 lumen and 500 lumen. It could use a lower level.

Yes it does, sounds like it memorizes the ramping level you stopped at, but confused because you wrote this:

:person_facepalming:

So for example lets say you are in ramping and stop by a single click, then press and hold .5 second to turn off -
then when you press and hold .5 second to turn back on, it will come on at the level where you previously stopped the ramping?

.

You answered earlier that you cannot enter ramping mode with a double click from off, so what mode does it enter “at the last used level” with a double click from off?

.

It’s ok if you don’t want to answer more, If I’m still confused I won’t ask about it anymore, I’ll just find out how it works when it arrives.

Sounds like the upgraded UI will have that lower mode. L-M-H

Both of my quotes are true. They do not contradict each other.

If you are not in ramping mode, then how can you turn the light off in ramping mode?

If your not in ramping mode, then that means you are either at the low, high or strobe level. So if it’s low and you turn the light off, it will turn back on in low.

Btw, it won’t turn on by a press and hold. Turn on is a single click. It’s turn off that is a press and hold.

Do you know what I mean by “last used level”? It is whatever you were in when you turned it off.

Let’s say you were on low, then turned it off. A double click is just 2 clicks. So the first click turns it on in low and the second click switches it to high.

Let’s say you were on high, then turned it off. A double click is just 2 clicks. So the first click turns it on in high and the second click switches it to strobe.

I’ll make a video of it showing the modes and memory functions.

Despite JasonWW has been answering some questions about the UI (thanks Jason!), I will reply to the questions you placed directly to me:

I meant that the range between Top and Bottom is not “tremendous”. In some lights with ramping mode (Emisar D4, Sofirn SP32A, aand maybe BLF Q8 (don’t have one to be 100%)) the lowest output is super low, like a moonlight or a firefly level, and the highest output is really bright.
On this Jaxmnve M3, that difference isn’t astonishing! The lowest mode isn’t “moonlight” and the highest isn’t turbo! That is why I said it is a “no-no” : no moonlight, no turbo

Yup, that’s it! It doesn’t blink and it doesn’t stop when it reaches the top or the bottom. So, that way, you don’t get a warning of when you get top nor bottom! Also, if it starts ramping up or down, it won’t stop until you press the switch to stop it.
Like I mentioned above, this light is not like the Emisar D4 or the Sofirn SP32A (or others) that have the “blinks” and that stop ramping when reaching the top or bottom limit!

I guess JasonWW has already answered to these questions, so I won’t reply as I might create confusion
But, when turned OFF, this light has memory for ALL the levels or modes. So it will even turn ON in strobe if that was the last used mode!

Like I said before, and also agreeing with the levels that JasonWW mentioned above, I guess the new UI (L-M-H) will be much more user friendly and useful

Ah Ha! I thought initial turn on was a long press, this is the reason why I was so confused about the double click from off !! - now it makes total sense.

.

The reason I thought initial turn on was a long press is because that’s how it is described in the listing, but in the description of the new UI - (first words in the photo description of the new UI), and because there is no other description of the (old) UI.

.

…So it appears the new UI is now a long press for ON instead of a single click - just like the OTR M3:

.

………………………………………………………………. “long press starts at 0.5 seconds”………………………………………………………………………

.

I thought the only changes to the UI were just the 3-mode changing to L-M-H and the strobe being hidden, but now I have a feeling there is more to it.

And now I’m thinking (hopfully) the new UI might start ramping from off with a double click and hold, (it appears that way in the above photo description of the new UI: “Stepless dimming: Double click and press enter”) - and that’s why the initial turn on was changed to long press instead of single click.

.

Except for the double click to turbo, initial start for this new UI would be same as the OTR M3 - (Long press 0.5 sec = ON), (Triple click = STROBE).
Then (hopefully) a double click and hold from off enters ramping (instead of double click for turbo on the OTR)

So Jason as you said earlier… this discussion may be moot because I have a feeling there are more changes than what I had thought. Thanks for the reply this clears things up now, no need to make a vid of the old UI but thanks for trying to help me understand!

Thanks for your answers and info!!

Good news, I got confirmation from JAXMNVE today that the new UI is indeed what I thought (and wrote in my previous post about it):

.

From OFF:
Long press 0.5 seconds = ON (enter 3-mode)

From OFF:
Double Click = enter Stepless Dimming

.

So now, using memory we can have quick access from off to low and high. :+1: :+1:

I just got two of them in. I ordered two of what is described as the yellow tint on product description page. Shipping took 3-4 weeks Both showed up bubble wrapped in a manila envelope with accessories. Battery, lanyard, O-rings, spare lens, charging cord.
I have some appointments but I will try and post a few pics at least until I can make vid showing UI since there looks like may be some confusion.

The JAXMNVE M3 is on left, followed by an OnTheRoad U16, and The New Wubenlight TO10Ron the right.
All three have usb charging, 16340 cells, magnetic bases, but all have very different UI’s and emitters.
I am working up some reviews, but it will be this coming weekend at earliest.
So far I like the little JAXMNVE M3 clone, but it does have a few things that could be improved upon. But at this price point, it’s really very very nice. More soon.

!!! You’re pockets are deeper than mine . . . the light is listed for $10k

That’s just a place holder. They do that when they are out of stock. Check back later and it will be $13 again. (Or $26, depending if its on sale or not)

would be interested to see that

Just received mine today, wish I could read the user manual, the light looks real nice, I’m impressed, charging it now…

Nice that you received yours

When you try it, let us know how the UI works to check if it is a new one or the old one!

So far…

the good:
USB charged it to 4.1, I pulled it a few hrs. after the light went green.
It’s very bright!
3 modes are Low-Mid-High (not Mid-High-Strobe)

The bad:
No ramping? (EDIT) and no 3-click hidden strobe? (EDIT 2)

Thanks MascaratumB for asking about trying “from ON” it made me try again harder from ON and I got it now :+1: (see next few posts)

And the strobe also works from ON (3 clicks) :+1:
It’s all good!
