[PART 1] Official BLF GT Group Buy thread. Group buy officially closed! Lights shipping.

Yeah, customs can take time depending where you live. I have seen it take weeks before during the holidays.

I just got a reply from Lumintop about the reflector quality.

They assured me that they are trying to keep quality up while making them as fast as possible. They also wanted to be clear that they will never reduce quality to save costs.

I told them to not worry about the speed as much as the quality going forward.

The factory appears to have a real issue with making reflectors this large with consistent quality. These are the largest reflectors they have made by quite a bit. So they are still learning how best to make them.

That’s so true!
So Patience is a virtue

Just thought I’d add that mine isn’t here yet in the UK. I’d assume you’ll get a wave of people per country getting them at once.

It is amazing how quickly some of these items arrive once they’ve been shipped. I know how long it takes to catch a plane to some of these places and these parcels sure dont hang around!

So all reflectors they ship out are whitin their quality standards.

It sounds like it… unless one slips through by mistake. :+1:
Which as we all know can happen in anything.
Good job Lumintop……… :+1:

Well said giorgoskok… :+1:
In addition Banggood had nothing to do with this, so I doubt they would be interested in shipping the lights…. just my thoughts of course.

correction, the dhl packet for my brother wasn’t the GT. So no info about GT’s for us here in the Netherlands.

So far it appears that all the reflectors have been at or above the V1 prototype quality, which was the standard we gave them when we started this. So yes, from what I have seen they have all been within spec.

The ones better then spec, are well, better then spec and a bonus. They were never under any obligation to give us that quality.

Hope my GT and 35E were sent by registered mail. Never got any PM and email.

Tested throw with my luxmeter LX1330B.

Stock Thrunite TN42 CW at 4m gives me 700k lux. —-> so my luxmeter is definetly not underestimating!

8 fully charged 30Q

BLF GT at 4m 820k lux.

BLF GT at 9,5m 993k lux.

…far away from 1,3 million

Thought I remember seeing that minimum distance for measurement was 40 meters or at least something further than you used because beam convergence has not occurred at the shorter distance?

At least it must take 10 meters to measure CD, in a launcher of this size, it is likely, that it does not reach to collimate the light, also it has to do double click for turbo 2.5 amp.

I too saw greatly reduced lux numbers in my normal 5M tests. I set up and did a 15M test and got 1.2375Mcd. But that figures out to 1.38Miles and then I did the beam shots that showed light hitting the water tower at 1.9 miles.

I have a couple of friends coming over this weekend for an emitter swap party, we’ll probably do a 50M test on all our GT’s after the swap. They ordered D4 emitters at 5700K from Richard, I found some E4 5700K at Arrow in HD trim, have them on the way and will try slicing the dome off and chemical de-dome, see which works better. The Cree datasheet lists the HD D4 at 550 lumens at the 350mA test level, the E4 does 717 lumens at the same level. So I hope to get a clean slice and replicate the HI and see 2400-2500 lumens out the front in mine. A buddy told me that Coleman lantern fuel does very clean de-domes with little tint change, I aim to try that.

We will have 4 GT’s here this Saturday, should prove interesting.

OHH that sounds interesting !!! also compare reflectors ………. :sunglasses:

I want to do a GT pyramid, step off even steps to form a square base with 4 people and point the GT’s up into the night sky and put us in a pyramid under the lighted corners. I’m weird. I know.

Another buddy told me to shine all 4 at the water tower, take a picture, then show y’all the picture and say “look at the pic I got of my GT rocking the tower!” :stuck_out_tongue:

Hmmm, make a wood panel joiner like someone did with the Maxtoch throwers and join 4 GT’s into a 10,000 lumen quad that throws miles?

It would take a psychologist a lifetime to poke around in that mind of yours Dale. A light pyramid using the longest throw led flashlights on the planet, unreal. It’s a darn good thing you are a photographer because we want pics!!

I will probably install xhp35 hi E2 1A in mine (when i get the GT , and when i get the leds) , it should be a little cool for my taste , but i will live with it

I hope this won’t open a inter-dimensional portal.

Now that you brought it up, you gotta do it! That was me with the 4X Shooter rig.

That reminds me, I have some photos to post in the Q8 thread…

I could only assemble a single GT dumbbell with the help of my friend’s GT. You can make a pair!

You can run two carriers back-to-back with an insulator between them and both heads will work. Ask me how I know.
