Setting up a P60 as a weapon light

Setting up a weapons light :

The first thing that comes to mind is recoil , and how one would go about countering such .

The one moving object , that could reek havoc internally is the battery . Contained by a spring at the front and rear , it hardly has enough force to stop the battery becoming a battering ram under recoil . And even if one were to stretch the springs , how long before they gave up from the pounding of say a shotgun ?

So the challenge is to stop the battery moving , to this end one would want to plug both ends of the flashlight so as to hold the battery in place , yet allow the flashlight to function .

If I had a lathe I would just turn up some plastic spacers , but since I dont , and most of you dont , we are going to do it the budget way . [ On the cheap and easy ]

Youl need a roll of tape , what I did was take a AAA battery , and wrap some tape around it sticky side out [ dont want to tape the battery ] and then continued sticky side in rolling up a slug that will fit inside the body of a flashlight .

I then measured the + spring on my pill and cut the slug to fit [ Button battery ] , make sure you cut to fit the battery you have or plan to use [ flat or button head ] ..

This plug will stop the forward movement of the battery yet allow contact .

Fit the pill + your new spacer to the body and test to make sure it works ok , if everything is ok , we then cut the rear spacer .

And Viola ! , if everything is cut to the correct length , you should now have a flashlight capable of handling recoil , and one that will function correctly .

Hope you enjoy !

Obviously with a lathe , one could do a much more professional job , ....

I think you may have rolled out a good idea .

I have these ideas rolling around in my head , and sometimes I let them out .

Often I get ripped , or others take credit for my ideas [ Intel comes to mind &*%*%$#$#$&& , fkn ass wipes taking credit for stuff I came up with ] so I dont let them out often enough . Two CPU cooler companies have ripped me , and Intel is taking credit for something I came up with a long time ago ..

If I were a rich man , id have lawyers all over them .

Being some what poor , I just have to gripe about the low life scum ..

[ Ooops , did I just rant then = My bad ]

Been sitting on this one a good two years , thats a long time to keep something to myself ..

But I did hope to have a lathe by now , and be machining components for flashlights .

Oh geez , just remembered Solarforce has taken one of my ideas ... Oh dear !

Such is life ... [ The list is growing - which is why I tend to keep stuff to myself maybe too often ]

Anyhow , I thought for sure some one else would have done something similar by now , so I guess this one has cooked long enough .

Good work Old. Sometimes the simplest ideas are often the best. It makes you wonder why no one else thought of this before.

Just a suggestion, instead of tape what about a piece of garden hose, it would need a couple of mm sliced out of the side to fit the battery tube, I think the the hose may be 20mm so wouldn't take much to get it to fit.

Dia would need to be kept @ 18mm or a little less ..

As the bit at the pill goes into the flashlight body , and same at the tail ..

Make them too tight and removal will become a PITA

Also plugs that are too hard may hammer the battery , some sort of medium hard rubber would be ideal with just a little give [ absorption of energy ]

I used cloth tape , as it has a little give ..

Better quality hose is quite soft and pliable, not the cheaper stiff hose.
