BLF GT custom handle bracket kit. (DBCustom approved. Post #121)

Back on topic… I should be able to work Proto V2 into my schedule by the weekend. This will at least be the final version of the brackets. As for the handle rod I’m still set on 3/4” aluminum bar stock. For those that want bike grips y’all can slice off my grip easily and do a couple wraps of tape to make the bike grip fit. Though they might fit without tape as well, my bmx days remind me those grips took some elbow grease to get on the 7/8” bars.

Exactly… :frowning:

3/4” bar stock with nice knurling on it is ideal in my opinion. Can be done with tubing as far as that goes, but I do like things to be rock solid so a bar… hard to beat. I’d probably be prone to reduce the end of the bar and cut threads onto it so it would screw into the bracket, do away with that screw, but that’s probably just me.

What if I just made the brackets and the customer could put any grip they wanted on it?

I say make the handle portion to where it will accommodate a standard bicycle grip. Be done with it.

I pretty much say the same thing. Just make the whole thing, 3/4 inch bar stock handle with screw attachment ; stick a fork in it & call it done.

It looks great………

Was out in the shop working on something else and thought about a handle, gave it a go…

Now if I can just get me one of these brackets to attach it to…

My OCD bugged me about this all night…

So today I got busy…

That looks great. Can you tell us more about it?

Looks like a Delrin bracket.

Interested … nice.

It’s actually raw G10. The stuff you normally see as knife scales? Only much thicker. Raw meaning no attempt to color it was made when it was produced. We’re used to seeing black, even a few colors these days… recently even some knife scales in the jewel hued light green of it’s raw state. It’s a high pressure laminate fiberglass/epoxy material that is extremely dense and stable.

I’ve got a few 12” rounds that are over 2” thick, they’re heavy! lol

I’ve had it for 20+ years, it was actually a 16” square sheet 13/16” thick with a hole in the center and drilled/tapped holes for mounting the machine that does the surgical procedure of knee replacements. I cut out a square on my table saw, then used an end mill bit in my table top drill press to get an L bracket shape. Sanded it to profile on my belt sander, finished sanding by hand.

Turningbluechips…… what’s happening with the V2 Prototype?

Looking forward to it!!! Still very interested……. :+1:

Life got in the way. Been a busy couple weeks bouncing around from shop to shop trying to get a new job up and running then my boiler decided to take a crap on me last week. I have the V2 programmed save for a couple minor tweaks. I hope to get something cut out this week to send down to Texas for some Dale testing and approval.

Oh YeaH!

Ok… thanks for the info. Sounds good……

Feel free to cut out two & send me one to test.

I am sold on your design, handle & all. That is what I want to test. I’m not interested in changing anything.

Have money… will send to defray costs. Let me know. :+1:

Another note. Be on the lookout for a giveaway of the V1 prototype. I should get a chance to make a post for it later this evening.

Thank you very much

Now you just need to find room on it for a quick detach swivel and 2nd tripod fitting to replace the one you are using for the handle! (mostly kidding)

That’s in the works right after I get the heated grip and massage options worked out. Lol.
