JasonWW - No, this is not my first group buy here or elsewhere. It’s not the worst communication wise I’ll give it that but after each group buy on everysite people always give ways in which they hope to improve and one of the ways people always mention is in a better communication method. Think of all the problems before the team account was created and it was all on poor Miller!
DENGOH - Information here is from hear-say. Not fact. I could post anything and it’d have the same authority as something said by anyone else. There is a team account for a reason. I trust that stuff is being done but managing expectations is quite simple. Someone from the team provide an update once a week with what is going on, not a “we think this” an actual status update. Lumintop aren’t making this light because they are super kind. They are still running a business and they are making money on it or they wouldn’t do it. Sure, they’re taking less on it than they could but they are still running this as a business venture and there should be metrics to work towards. Whilst they dont need to explain their shipping strategy it would probably have made a lot less people complain about it if they had a rough understanding of what was going to happen. Informed people can make informed decisions. Heh, they dont even need to fufil all of the group buy orders before they start shipping them through amazon or similar if they don’t want to but you’d think it’d make sense.
I know Neal has other stuff going on and it seems that many people on his facebook group are getting cheesed off with delays and stuff of other products.
The team who are working on this are clearly clever guys dealing with a lot of stuff but the view from the “outside” is not always as clear as the view from “inside”.
What we really need is a place for someone to share information to the interested parties, maybe a forum
… just saw Jason’s reply whilst I was writing and I laughed It shows how uninformed people actually are yet they are saying there is information.
Damn my mistake, ofcourse I did not take DHL because of what it did some time ago. Sorry, some brainfog here, was just several days on a trip with my friends onle, ehmm.
OK, so this clears things - wont wait for notification then
Being fair he probably would have had it as I think a few people in Finland have received them via DHL. Saying that I think a few have landed in The Netherlands but not all so it’s clearly not a country by country basis (as in everyone in country X gets one).
Speculation: Maybe some part of the mill to make the reflector got worn out earlier than expected.
Like everyone I’m eager to get the GT (mod parts are already in!)
But I much rather wait another month or so for a perfect reflector!
I agree communication isn’t perfect, but it hardly ever is when ordering from China.
Everybody here still does, because we are budget orientated and they make ok stuff.
So please Lumintop, take your time to have a perfect reflector shipped. It will help in the future selling numbers of the BLF GT
Made a video running the BLF GT for 25 mins on turbo and recoded a Thermal Video of the light.
Room temp was 25 degrees with no forced ventilation. Light was on turbo from start to end of recording. Max temp seemed to be around 44 Degrees C.
Battery dropped from 4.20v to 4.00v during the 25 mins. And this was using one carrier with 4 cells only.
I must have missed the memo that said it was now OK to post peoples names and locations on the web…
I have been a member of this forum for 5 years. I have been on the team of multiple group buys, done extensive testing on prototypes, then seen the light changed at the last minute and a different version shipped. I’ve seen the other team members go virtually silent, those are doing much the same to this day, in other places. I’ve seen quite a lot of things happen. I’ve actually built prototypes on the prototypes and sent them back to China. What’s happening here is not liked, to be sure, but it is indeed par for the course.
To date, MOST of this group buy has gone according to plan. The lights are well made, the driver was delivered as specced, the only real flaw is in the shipping process. It’ll all sort out, there will be a lot of very happy people in the end, and most of these folks will join yet another group buy.
Nature of the beast.
Certain individual’s have been involved in most of the group buy’s that I’ve seen go wonky. Perhaps it’s their aura, perhaps it’s something else. Time has made most of the issues a moot point in the past, probably will here as well. Boils back down to patience, I know I’m not on the waiting side but most likely would have forgotten I’d ordered by now so the waiting wouldn’t have torn me up. Visiting here and posting regularly could well be some of the people’s problem, it’s keeping the pot stirred… as it were.
