Thrunite TC20 - XHP70 - 3800lm

Thanks for the info guys! Looks like a winner, can’t wait for mine.

Thanks for that. I was wondering if any of you that have received the CW version and what do you think?

I don’t care about outside color renditions or whatever temperatures as my older eyes love just pure white light. I know I’m in the minority but CW is what I like. Thanks.

If I had to do it again, I’d probably order a CW version.

Thanks for that honesty! Seems like a lot of folks here do not like CW but if you just want a light at it’s brightest and just want a light that lights the area with the brightest, pure white light, color rendition or color temperature be damned, CW is the way to go.

I don’t take professional photos and don’t care if I take photos day or night to show true colors. I just want a light to shine bright and white and clear and for that I like CW!

To each their own!

There’s a difference between Cool whites though. I like a pure white CW too.
My Acebeam L16. That thing is like a blue laser LOL

I got mine today. Some initial findings and comparison to Acebeam EC50-II:

The TC20 is slightly heavier than the EC50 but due to the shorter length it kind of feels much more substantial. The design and shape also makes the head of the TC20 look much bigger even though there’s only a 2mm difference. The TC20 feels a lot like the TN42, except for the size, of course; a solid, quality build. No complaints about the EC50 either.
EC50 has anti-roll, TC20 does not.

Both fit my small(ish) hands very well but I feel the TC20 might slip out easily because being shorter there is less surface to hold on to, and the tailcap is the same diameter as the body. The groove between the body and the tailcap gives some extra grip. But the EC50 wins this one with its better body to tailcap ratio - it just feels a lot more secure in my hand.

The TC20 can be locked out by unscrewing the head a bit.
If the light is on when locking out, then tightening the head back on will turn it back on immediately without pressing the switch. That means you will get full mode memory! Firefly, turbo, and even strobe if you want.
The EC50 is locked out by unscrewing the tailcap, and will require pressing the switch to turn on after making electrical contact.
On both lights the normal single click mode memory only works on low, medium, and high.
UI is the same on both except for strobe (EC50 triple click, TC20 2x double click).
The switch on the TC20 is small, and feels slightly mushy and loose. EC50 has a much better switch in my opinion.

I have the NW version of the TC20, and it’s the normal story; a neutral hotspot, yellow corona, and purple spill.
I can’t make a fair comparison with my EC50 here, because it’s XHP70 4000K 90CRI.
The TC20 has a more pronounced hotspot.
Output seems to be close to the specs. I don’t have a lux meter yet, but I compared it to my other lights that have been measured.

Interesting RT! I don’t like that about the mushy switch. Mushy switches irritate me.

By the way, anyone still waiting for theirs? I just got an e-mail saying mine was just shipped after all this time.

The switch is basically a miniature version of the TN42 switch.
The TN42 switch has no extra movement, just a tight click, and nothing else. The TC20 switch has a bit of pre-travel before it clicks. Pressing against a spring is bound to cause some mushyness. The actual click feels pretty much the same as on TN42. Snappy clicks feel ok.
I might just be overly critical? But the EC50, Zebralight, and Emisar have such great switches, it’s hard to be happy with even the smallest imperfections.

I totally agree on the Emisar switch. I have a D1 and the switch action is really nice. In fact the whole light is superb.

Neutral white (USA Customer)
The selected product combination is currently unavailable.

Received my TC20 a few days ago, neutral white emitter. I like everything about the light; however, I am not a big fan of the neutral tint as there is some tint shift from the creamy white hot spot to a yellowish corona. If anybody bought the cool white and is looking for the neutral, I would be willing to trade. Otherwise I might sell this light, PM me if you are interested.

Thrunite’s runtime is spot on. I ran it on high, 1800 lumen for 2hrs and 25mins on the dot. Was super hot so wear gloves fellas. Very very happy with this light. The beam pattern is perfect for multi-use. Similar to an S2+ pattern.

Does it drop output on that level?

I’m not 100% happy with the neutral white version I got, so I ordered the cool white. I might end up selling (Continental USA only) the neutral if I like the cool white more. I’ll be in touch. BTW, it’s perfect with the original box and all included accessories.

So is it just the tint shift you dislike? Do you usually get NW in your lights? Also do you know the CCT of these, for NW and/or CW? didn’t see it in Thrunite.com or amazon. I wouldn’t be happy with CW 6000K> and <4500K could be a bit warm for me in a light like this, 4700K - 5500K would suit me best.

Also does double click to turbo work from off?

I love neutral white, but this one has a great hot spot with a yellowish corona and a ever so slightly bluish spill when shinning on a white wall. Maybe I’m being overly picky. Everything else about this flashlight is fantastic. Yes, double click from off gets you to turbo

Thanks for the info. I’ve been noticing the newest leds from cree seem to have those characteristics, I just got an Xp-L2 and it’s tint is exactly as you described.

I agree with what you were saying in an earlier post that it’s mostly when illuminating white walls etc. and not in real use. But right now where we live, too warm, too cool and tint shift “rainbows” are real undesirable outdoors, everything’s white out there!

Still wondering what the CCT is on these.

My Convoy L6 XHP 70 NW has a perfect tint. Maybe the XHP 70.2 is dud?

On my CW version, yes, double click from off goes to turbo
