[PART 1] Official BLF GT Group Buy thread. Group buy officially closed! Lights shipping.

Comparing a 4000K tint in an XP-L to one in the XHP-35 wouldn’t be an apples to apples comparison as the binning is done differently.

With the 4 die XHP-35 the McAdams curve is used so with the 35 there is a blending of tints from the 4 dies. Hence, the binning would cover a broad range from 5A to 5D, including 5B and 5C.

With the XP-L, you would buy a specific bin, so the actual output tint would then be more purely based on one’s bin selection.

EDIT: Also worthy to note that the 4000K is only available, as indicated by the chart, in a 5-step binning, where the warmer 80 and 90 CRI emitters have a tighter 3-step offering that keeps the bin closer to the black body line.

From the list of 555 Dhl all got a flashlight?

Not yet, there are still some from the first 555 waiting…

Thank you! Nobody asked when Lumintop goes to holidays? I’m afraid this may drag on until April… :person_facepalming:

They are trying to get all lights shipped. Seems to me they are trying pretty hard. I’m very glad it’s not MY nightmare, much much easier for me to sit on this side of the globe and mod lights.

You’re lucky, not that I’m sitting in this hole) where only one fan of flashlights for the whole country

Borat is not into flashlight?

500 of the first 850 got shipped. Most people from the front half, but not all, got their light shipped. Still 350 to go, mostly from the back half of the list.

Once we hear some more tracking/shipping info from people, we can then confirm the 4th shipment has happened.

My payment is also on 12/02/2017,but by registered mail,so I wait… :frowning:

#126, DHL here, no sign of my light. Patiently waiting

Perhaps location could be added into the list of people that have received their lights so we have a rough idea where they are going.

Yep. I’m in the first 555 and I paid for mine before the December 31st deadline and I have no response and no tracking info though I paid and selected DHL shipping and no batteries . I emailed Neal last week but got no response. I know he’s got a lot on his plate though. I sure would like some kind of update though. I don’t even know where else to inquire.

Trying to follow this thread is nearly impossible.

I’m just now hearing that we are getting 4000K emmiters.

Edit:
Ok, it took a bit but I just found TA’s review of the emitter and he explained most of the reasoning so I get it. I just wish I knew before now but the lumen numbers sound good so that’s a bonus. I know from my work with Convoy just how hard it is to find neutral emitters in good bins in big quantities. Nearly impossible most of the time really. Much respect for all the hard work put in on this one. Sorry to lodge a complaint before even getting the light. Sure would like some update on when mine will ship though!
Edit #2:
I removed my grumbling about the “too warm” emitter after finally finding the reason listed by TA and realizing my venting didn’t add anything of value. Hopefully the shipping delay means I’ll be getting a really nice reflector.

It seems the alternate method I presented above is unpopular with a few. So be it….
I totally agree with the idea M4DM4X presents above. “limit future group buys to 150 to 250 units…”

First of all…. This was about Future Group Buys, NOT the GT.

Second… NOT complaining about the few constant continual complainers at all. Just pointing out there is no use for it after the point was made. It would change nothing.

Third, NO mention of “banning” anyone was made.
It was an alternative to M4DMAX’s suggestion to limit Future Group Buys. One that would not impact the vast majority of participants by limiting the number involved.
It would simply remove the extremely small number of people who were not happy campers.

Fourth, since you mentioned it; the GT Group Buy would have occurred just fine.
The tiny down payment was securing a GT for an unheard of low price… nothing more. Despite false hopes of preferred arrival times…. it was to secure a preferred price… that is all.
There are plenty of people who would have been more than happy to pay this measly down payment to secure the preferred price.

So again… the best advice was given by TA, as well as what Pöbel wrote… quoted below.

…….
Edit for spelling…. 1-19-2018 … 18:19

When you paid, did you get your normal confirmation from Paypal? A lot of folks, but not all, got auto generated emails from Neal listing the details of their purchase, asking to confirm their phone number and thanking them for their purchase. I’m not sure why everyone didn’t get one. No matter, people that did not get this email still got their light delivered.

You won’t get tracking info until after it ships.

Pommie, your [(edit) now deleted] post is was more BS. If you care to continue. Take it to PM.

IF you cannot understand the simple things I wrote above, sorry… I can’t break it down any simpler.

And I took no “shot” at you. I never mentioned you at all.

You quoted me. After a couple of tries that is.

Are you feeling guilty about being one of the very few?? You must think you are since you apparently got rattled by this.

Do you not think people are tired & “fed up” of hearing the same whining crap over & over…… by whoever is doing it.

And I am referring to things that cannot be changed…. NOT legitimate problems or questions.

The things that cannot be changed have been explained numerous times. NOTHING can be done about them.

It Is What It Is. TA has explained it until he is blue in the face I imagine.

I woke up and started reading expecting the normal drama only to be pleasantly surprised at some light hearted banter for the first few pages.

Lets get back to that and leave the drama behind please.

I am not sure either although my guess is it has something to do with customs. They mentioned having to get a new permit to ship lithium batteries, maybe this is what they were talking about.

Could also be cheaper or more reliable to use Fedex to the UK as well, hard to say. As long as they are shipping and arriving, that is all that matters.

When you have hundreds of messages a day, you simply don’t have time to answer them all. Been there, done that.

You have to scan them and find the ones that you can actually do something about or provide new information to and prioritize those.

Basic status checks and the like make up a large portion of the messages both he and I are getting and there is simply nothing else we can tell you in most cases besides lights are shipping each week.

So, I’ve been looking at the GT and wondering…. I have a couple of friends that like to camp out, one of them loves doing it in ridiculously cold weather. If the GT were modified to the XHP-70.2, could it not be used as an emergency rations heater? I mean, remove the bezel and lens, set the reflector aside, put a SS bowl in the head and fill it with soup or whatever, turn the light on for about 10 minutes, voila! Steaming Chef Boyardee Lasagna! (or Ravioli or whatever)

Yes, I got confirmation of payment and the auto-generated email from Neal and I responded with congratulations to him on his wedding and my info. I haven’t heard a thing since. I sent a follow-up to that email 9 days ago asking if there was any update. No response to that email either.

That’s better than some. Perfectly normal.
