[PART 1] Official BLF GT Group Buy thread. Group buy officially closed! Lights shipping.

I am game if I can find the time.

I got a text from DHL last night that my 2nd round light is on its way to USA, no ETA given.

Congratulations! Lumintop must love the USA very much.

Sounds good to me.

You will get the light, not to worry. It is only a question of time.

Once they catch up on the orders we will take a headcount to see if anyone was missed and ship out lights as needed. I would be surprised if at least 1 person was not missed with all the hands the shipping and order information has to jump through with the current system.

This is why for the next GB I want it all automated, remove the human hands and about 90% of the hassle, work and issues we are dealing with along with it.

Luckily we are getting close, a few more weeks and things should be basically caught up and then we can start really looking into any possible issues.

Not that they love the USA so much as they love DHL and most of the DHL shipments are going to the USA.

It is perfectly understandable as well, I have yet to hear about a real issue with the DHL shipping but I know that the registered mail will have issues, it always does.

No one is looking forward to dealing with those issues.

I am also wanting to get some of these as well, got a boost driver I am about to start playing with and I really like these.

Although I have been talking to Neal about them and he actually found an even better LED option that he tried to send me for testing but sadly it was lost along the way.

If they test well they should be a very good XHP35 option and could even make it into the next round of GT’s if they test very good. They are 4500k vs 4000k.

Sadly They do not have the same LED, I have already looked. They only have like 1 XHP35 HI LED sadly. They have several XHP35 HD’s to pick from.

I got one of them to play with on the boost drivers I am about to start testing.

Just got a call from DHL. I use my Google voice number and some systems won’t work to text it. But it seems I have a light coming with batteries.

Get these tested, I’d love mine to be 4500. I’m in the 1600’s.

I’d also like mine to be 4500k, but already got my light :person_facepalming:

If this led option becomes standard, I would love to be able to buy one on LED board. I would also be interested in getting a new reflector if they improve the quality. Not that mine is horrible, but would like it as good as possible

And this is exactly what it is, as a blf member that chose registered mail because this great dhl let us pay 55 dollar extra in Europe, I don’t feel represented by the team in this case. I can wait, no problem, but I don’t like misinformation. Lumintop should not offer registered mail if they don’t want to use it. It’s a bit strange, all my other lights came with registered mail without problems and with tracking.

So it’s clear. We have to wait with the registered mail. Whatever the order …

How far down the list are we regarding payment PM’s? Just trying to get an idea of when to expect mine so I can plan for it, #1274 iirc

Its looking like it might be after the chinese holiday before you receive your payment PM

Up to #1049, which is only about 850 orders. Once these are all shipped, or almost all shipped, Texas_Ace will decide when to send out the PM for the last group of people to purchase.

It’s just a flashlight. Geez.

Your still gonna get yours before many others even get a chance to pay for theirs. Think positive. No need for negativity.

I’m very sure that is not what is happening, as Bozlight pointed out, chinese sellers have no problem using registered shipping. What is way more likely is that they (Neal? Lumintop?) have simply not figured out how to do the double packaging, and like everyone who is not facing consequences for the way they do things (things are handled in a random way until it is directly affected by money, reputation in China is not highly regarded) ; the easy stuff is done first.

In shipping, none of the BLF group buys went well so the BLF teams organising them should be frank about that: it comes when it comes, in random and unfair order.
(although they never promised complete fairness, the GT team expected shipping to be smoother than it went)

You were not responding to me but your post does apply: I think that many people, like me, and the GT-team, think extremely positive about this group buy (and regularly post about it  ) but at the same time are a bit disappointed about how the shipping goes and showing that as well.
LOL, for flashoholics no flashlight is just a flashlight

I just got a DHL message.... and paid 50 euro’s. On 6 January my brother, my son and I, changed from registered to DHL because Neal said the GT’s to Europe shipped that same day. And Thijsco did not had to pay for his DHL shipment to the Netherlands. At the end our GT’s didn’t ship that day. As another Dutchman had to pay 50 euro’s for his DHL shipment, I sent Neal a message to change back to registered mail to avoid 3x 50 euro’s DHL/customs tax. I never got an answer to that message. So now they took DHL. Mixed feelings. Glad the GT is coming, not to happy to pay 50 euro’s extra. (And my son and brother have to pay that too, but they did not get a message so far)

Crossing the beams does no harm (unless it’s taking a while for the Aliens to respond)

Even from 1.31 miles away, don’t look into the business end!

One of my friends (the one on the far side of the lake) had a meter set up, an GT with XHP-35 HD E4 5700K emitter showed 0.2 lux at 1.31 miles, one with an XHP-35 HI D4 5700K showed the same 0.3 lux as my sliced HD E4 5700K variant. So the two with the tighter beams did 1.323Mcd across the lake on a 90% humidity night, extrapolated to 1.429 miles throw. This was determined by reverse engineering the formula to get .3 lux at 1.31 miles.

3 GT’s together put 0.5 lux on the far beach. Pretty neat out at the lake seeing opposite shore lines and such. The one friend with the meter said when we shined the GT’s over his head he could clearly see the beam in the night air, that column of blue-white light, so the beam is still visible at over 2100 meters. Way cool stuff!
