[PART 1] Official BLF GT Group Buy thread. Group buy officially closed! Lights shipping.

I ran across a 2 piece set of rubber strap wrenches for $5 at my local Northern Tool store.

I removed the battery tube and the side switch ring and clamped them lightly in my vice using some thick leather welding gloves to provide cushion.

I made sure to loosen the bezel before loosening the upper head as it’s easiest.

The head was actually tighter than the bezel in my case, but I got them both loose. I hope this helps someone.

Ps, The bezel has 2 o-rings. The one on the side, below the threads, is well lubed, but the one between the glass and bezel is dry. I think this is the one making it so hard to loosen. I added a bit of lube between the bezel and o-ring and this seems to help some. I tightened them back up hand tight.

The main problem is lack of information.

I only need info when FL will be sent.

I guess this is not important for lumnitop, Neal

Nice ’tutorial’ Jason!!! … :+1: … Good info.

Often do these things barefoot do you Jason??

It’s a thing we learn in the deep South G0OSE, the floor is hard and prone to damage the light if it falls. This way, we can jab a bare foot under it and keep the concrete from denting it if it falls.

Well when handling Giggles you need to be bare foot to keep you firmly connected to this world and not have you float away on ecstasy.

Also I would imagine it is a bit warmer in Texas than it is here in the UK.
I don”t like to walk on my stone tiled kitchen floor barefoot this time of year yet alone outside.

It’s a balmy 63°F here in Houston. Last week was 21°F.

Ps, I’m wearing shorts as well. Feels good outside.

Hi everyone, I just received mine from FedEx (order placed said DHL). This thing is HUGE and carrying it is more like carrying a dumbbell

Thank you all for contributing to it. This is the largest flashlight (heaviest) I ever own, love it very much.

Note: Mine come with bigger than LED black gasket, however it is well centered. There are some uncoated area (10mm square), four marks, at the edge of the glass. And when max out the light, there is an off-center-oval-shape-corona slightly brighter than the adjacent observed on the beam (it is not able to be captured by camera). Another thing is the BLF GT box has been taped all over the place with FedEx stickers and when being removed, the box’s wording and “skin” are all gone  . What a waste, they should wrap with protective layer before sending to FedEx…… To me all these are still acceptable, but just want to highlight that compared with my flawless TN42, Lumintop needs to keep up a bit more

BLF GT (4000 K?) on the left & TN42 (5000 K) on the right

Yay, mine has arrived in UK today. No batteries ordered, DHL but came TNT, no tax to pay.

I was called by customs yesterday just to ask if personal or business item, I declared personal and no issues. Was opened and resealed.

I’m away so can’t try it out until the weekend :frowning:

Thank you team GT :+1:

Well I cant get those bloody mouse over images to work so you’ll have to make do with my comparison shots of a Niwalker Vostro BK FA09S

TOP = Niwalker, Bottom = GT

TOP = Niwalker, Bottom = GT

Awesome photos, Chris! Thanks!

today I received the first of my two GTs.
DHL shipping, no batteries.
Neal no sent the GTs in the order they had been paid, but was doing miracles with customs.
I did not have to pay anything, THANK YOU NEAL.

Thanks. It’s hard to appreciate how bright it is considering the other light is a 1.5km capable light and a year ago it was a smidge away from being the most throwy light out there (compared to the tn42).

When you compare them and remember much wow factor the other light had last year it really does put it into perspective.

Thanks for the pics Chrisc, the crazy thing is the GT modded with a XHP70.2 should still throw further than the BK FA09S according to TA experiments.

This light to me serves a purpose. It’s too big to lug around normally and I’m not sure I even have a use for it but I won’t be modding it unless it’s for more throw

That might work in Italy, but not the whole Europe…

Great pictures chris, and one nice detail ! If you zoom in and look the roof of that house, with GT you can clearly see a green moos on the edges, with Niwalker can’t see a thing :sunglasses:

I have a feeling that the Q16 will be heavy too. Speaking of which, any plans to open a thread for that project soon?

Also the trees in the background. They aren’t visible with the niwalker through the moisture in the air.

The weather really wasn’t suitable for doing this tonight but considering it wasn’t raining and just a bit of drizzle it seemed like a good time to try it.

I really need to find my remote shutter cable for my camera as it’d have made this a lot easier.

My problem is I live in a city with a lot of light pollution. The low cloud tonight and the orange sky really didn’t help that much.

I have to say that the tint does detract from the wow factor of the light but in the conditions tonight the warmer tint cut through the moisture so much better. There was some other tests that I did and the niwalker just lit up the air before hitting a target when the GT cut through.

I’ll try and get a photo of me lighting up a building at ~800m but with the moisture the niwalker doesn’t appear to touch it. I know it does because on summer nights I’ve seen it light it up.

I’ll need some help from the wife when I take those shots and it’s already 11pm so they can wait another night at least
