[PART 1] Official BLF GT Group Buy thread. Group buy officially closed! Lights shipping.

Also the trees in the background. They aren’t visible with the niwalker through the moisture in the air.

The weather really wasn’t suitable for doing this tonight but considering it wasn’t raining and just a bit of drizzle it seemed like a good time to try it.

I really need to find my remote shutter cable for my camera as it’d have made this a lot easier.

My problem is I live in a city with a lot of light pollution. The low cloud tonight and the orange sky really didn’t help that much.

I have to say that the tint does detract from the wow factor of the light but in the conditions tonight the warmer tint cut through the moisture so much better. There was some other tests that I did and the niwalker just lit up the air before hitting a target when the GT cut through.

I’ll try and get a photo of me lighting up a building at ~800m but with the moisture the niwalker doesn’t appear to touch it. I know it does because on summer nights I’ve seen it light it up.

I’ll need some help from the wife when I take those shots and it’s already 11pm so they can wait another night at least

GoshDogIt posted about adding a length of bicycle inner tube over the battery tube. I mentioned maybe a neoprene sleeve would be a better cold barrier.

I found protective sleeves (for motorcycle forks) that fit perfectly in circumference, so I ordered two sets. The material is a little bit thinner than the OP/Tech hoods.

One fork tube cover will do two battery tubes, so it needs to be cut in half.

Before cutting, the stitching needs to have a "stay stitch" sewn in on each side of the cut where you plan to cut it. To secure the stitching so it doesn't unravel. Here are the neoprene covers for anyone interested.

I got this Woven Cloth Shrink Tube coming in Amazon.com

I have tried the neoprene shrink tubing on other lights, I thought I’d give this a try?

You get more lumens this way. Better grounding.

I don’t understand, I never got an email… I was in the group buy like 2 months ago… my name was posted…. please tell me I didn’t lose out due to them missing my name… forgetting to email or pm?

You are far in the list, it will take a time to receive the pm

Thanks for the reassurance… I was scared when I saw ‘group buy closed’

I am number 1189 in the group buy.

When can I expect a PM?

From post #1.

The next group (3rd batch) to purchase lights (#1050 and up on the list or who signed up after 10/23/17) will get their emails late January to early Feb in order to let Neal get caught up with current orders. Since Chinese New Year is quickly approaching, Texas_Ace may wait unto late February. No final decision has been made yet.

The neoprene was cheap. Worth a try.

I may like the woven stuff you found better. The diameter of it will be close. Let us know how that stuff works out.

*I posted an image above*

I dont know when its becomes, but the team are work in it

Thank you all for your kind suggestions. I appreciate the information. I will continue to wait patiently and check back later this month and throughout February.

When I receive the email / pm, how long do I have to take advantage of the price? Do I have to buy within a very short time limit of my receiving the email? (Basically, if I don’t see the email until 2 weeks late because I forgot about it, will I miss out, or is the coupon good for a month or longer?)

my attempt to help for size comparison. He’s 3 weeks

There should not be much of a time limit. Ordering sooner gives you a better chance of getting it sooner, but that’s no guarantee.

gregor, I understand your frustration about this. Obviously refund is not what you want. You just want confirmation from Neal.
I think Neal should respond to you if he can. You should try PM him again, of course i am not suggesting to spam him everyday.

Since I couldn’t convince anyone else to do it, I ordered the filmcity lens handle. Here it is suspended from the balance point on my pegboard.

I like it srwaite! I thought it’d work perfectly and it looks like it does… I would’ve been all over it but the funds department cancelled my little party…

Does it “handle” as well as it looks like it should?

Dale,

In your first photo, are there 3 or 4 beams being thrown; It looks as if there are 2-3 beams on your side of the lake? Maybe just a glare but from the right side of the photo it looks as if 1 beam is crossing over yours and possibly another is shining down yonder…

The bottom photo…WOW! From that distance it’s amazing how bright that looks!

Very NICE… That looks like it belongs on it! How much was that handle?

I like it. It feels great in the hand and the balance is perfect. The only real problem is that with only 1 screw to hold it in position, a rapid twist of the hand will cause it to rotate. I can’t get enough tension on the tripod screw to prevent it, although you really have to twist it pretty hard to make it move. I’m considering machining 1/4” off the front of the handle base so it can butt flat up against the fins of the GT and maybe prevent that. I’m not sure if its necessary yet.

$35. Here it is on amazon:

I actually ordered for the same price off ebay though. It came in 4 days from India via DHL.
