[PART 1] Official BLF GT Group Buy thread. Group buy officially closed! Lights shipping.

Neal - Are you 100% sure this is the reason they have been returned? I have never heard of UK Customs doing this.

Around three UK members have reported in this thread that their Flashlight with Batteries was returned to Lumintop as the package was not correctly marked, due to lithium batteries being inside.

I figured that was the case. I don’t see what the reasoning was for putting the stickers on.

They are 3500mAh and are proper 35E cells, I just didn’t get the point of the stickers being there.

I think they had the wrapers laying around and wanted to decrese the amount of them.

Probably down to the maximum capacity for cells in transit.

8 x 2600 = 20800
8 x 3500 = 28000

Maximum allowance is 100watt hour = 2.6A cells = 96.2watt hour, 3.5A cells = 129.5watt hour

It’s a sticker which has been added on after the plastic wrapper has been put on for the button top. It’s not part of the clear heatshrink tube.

Ahh that makes sense. Thanks for the info, I didn’t know about that.

You never know maybe UK customs checked the cells and saw them trying to pull a fast one on the delivery. It’s very easy to know what capacity cells have and there must be many Chinese companies trying to flout these restrictions.

There are ways of shipping more cells but it depends on this shipping method used.

To ship <100w/hour packs is a lot easier than >100w/hour packs which is why most of the powerbanks dont come much bigger than 20’000mah rating.

There are some new regulations in shipping lithium batteries: http://www.dhl.co.uk/en/express/shipping/shipping_advice/lithium_batteries.html

there are special stickers on my package, so that’s conform regulations.

Ahhh thanks for clearing up why the batteries have 2600mah stickers, its just for shipping conforms even though its 3500mah. Makes sense.

So they’re purposefully dodging tax and safety regulations, sweet.

Yes but to make sure you get your light and battery. So its for our benefit

TBH I’m torn, I want the light, I want it badly but I also work in the freight industry and situations like this are constantly forcing the industry to tighten it’s regulations and make my job more difficult and more cumbersome.

They really have gone above and beyond with packaging though. When you get a pile of 18650’s in a little grey plastic bag and each cell is in a tiny weeny bit of cardboard I can understand.

This light is packaged super well. Loads of foam, loads of padding. not a chance for anything to move.

no notice for me, just a courier arriving at my door in the morning.

Send Texas_Ace a PM

I think I’ll just wait til the end of the day and see what happens - I’m sure Neal will have been in contact with TA over the night.
I had asked for mine to be changed to dhl, but with no reply and now this I’m unsure as to what is happening now…… I must admit I did think it was the ones with batteries as I’d seen a few people say about it.

It is for this, why I didn’t want the light to have a written name on it.I was seeing into the future, knowing the Customs’ officers. If it was a no name product,it would be easier for this to slip below Customs radar.

I received my Flashlight, I ordered it with the batteries, shipped with DHL option, though it arrived with a TNT Label.

I can also confirm that this camera shoulder sling works quite well with it:

They ship flashlights once a week.

If what they mentioned is true , that last dhl shipments will be sent next week , if you changed to DHL yesterday it will be shipped next week .

(I wrote this based on what TA and Jason write here)

A few thoughts so far.

I love the tint, I was getting concerned with all the talk about the tint a while back that it was going to be really warm but I think it’s fantastic!

The performance is outstanding, it definitely lives up to it’s name and the UI is great!

The size! I still can’t get over it!! I used to think my TK61 was a large light but this thing absolutely dwarfs it, in fact it dwarfs every light I own!
