Thrunite TC20 - XHP70 - 3800lm

So 1 is thrower vs flooder. But price difference is double for TC20. UT02 around $40.

I think thrunite tc20 is a great deal. $72 with the coupon… you cant beat that… d4, d1, tc20 are different light…

D4 optics lense… great… all the lumen are in one hot spot… brighter and generate more heat.
tc20. General use light… one guy reviewed he run 2 hours @ 1800 lumen…

The D1 only puts out 1300lm on turbo, or am I missing something?

You really can’t compare this to Emisar …

The D4 can only run in turbo for what… maybe 20-30 seconds? And how many 20 second turbo blasts are you going to get before the battery needs recharged? And I’ve read it gets burning hot within seconds on turbo:

Quote from the maker of D4 (Hank @ Int’l Outdoor):

“The D4 will produce tremendous heat on turbo mode, and heat up very fast (10~20 seconds for the thermal protection to kick in depends on the cell)”

.
The TC20 will run in Turbo for several minutes before step down begins, that’s a huge difference, plus with the 5000mAh 26650 you have a much greater battery capacity, not to mention the TC20 boasts a rated 320m beam distance. Yes both the D1 & D1S will out throw it, but neither are “lumen monsters” And the D4 is pretty much a close range flooder.

I’m not slamming the Emisar either - I’ll be ordering a D4 soon, the TC20 and D4 are both great flashlights but they definitely have their different uses.

Thrunite just replied to me the NW version wouldn’t be available again for about 2 months, however on their listing instead of showing “not currently available” it now shows a ship date: “Expected ship date is 02/23/2018” so about 1 month actually.

Anyone know what other 26650’s fit into this light?

I haven’t tried yet, but I’m pretty sure my Efest unprotected 4200 and 5200mAh flat tops will work. I’ll check later

Pretty much all cells 67mm and up will work in the TC20. I would stay with a quality High Drain cell though. Actually some of the shorter cells “work” so to speak , but a good jolt causes a flicker or mode change with the shorter cells.

I would use shockli imr 26650 when I get my tc20. I feel like light company pushing the limit ( 3800 lumen), so imr would make perfect and substain turbo mode little better.

Example…
Acebeam L16. Need imr for the turbo mode.

I’ve tried 3 different brands of batteries and they all fit. Power draw are also identical…regulated output. I’m sticking with the battery that came with the light.

I agree with you on the one that came with the light as I tested Efest purple , EVVA , King Kong , Basen , AWT and a Voidhawk protected cell and all were pretty much identical as you say , on draw and output.

Received a NW yesterday, awesome flashlight! It’s a little hand grenade!

I’m happy with the tint, the snow all melted here so I took it out on a walk and the tint is perfect for me, beautiful neutral color rendering. I don’t notice any of the tri-color rainbow that’s visible indoors on white walls, but it’s not going to be used indoors anyhow, and don’t think I’d want the tint any colder.

The switch feels fine to me, I see how its been described as “mushy” it has some extra spring travel before it clicks, but I guess I’d call it a bit “springy”? But hey all switches aren’t created equal, maybe it could be more precise but it doesn’t bother me at all. It might even help for prevention of accidental turn on, seems like you can depress it very lightly without it turning on. Although you can just do a mechanical lockout by a slight twist of the head. (unscrewing)

I really love the aggressive knurling, it rivals the knurling on my HD2010 and DQG 18650 tiny V1, which have best knurling of all my lights. I also love the “single click-on/off” (Olight) UI. Overall I’m very happy with it, @3800lm it’s the brightest rated light I own now, tomorrow night I’ll take it out again with some other lights and compare brightness.

Ow God, please, stop…. Did I told I’m trying to resist?

MUST RESIST!

is there any way to lock out the button?… prevent accidental turn-on?

thanks

Yes, mechanical lockout by a slight twist of the head. (unscrewing)

I also added that info to my previous post about the switch.

Sorry!!!

Oops I missed that… cool then thanks!!

Does Thrunite charge up front for pre orders of this light???

TC20 battery came fully charged, slightly disconcerting. 4.19 according to lil500. Never had a brand new battery come from factory fully charged. Paranoia big destroyer!

Has anyone tried unprotected flat top high drain batteries in this light? I want to have spare cells for this light.

I tried Keeppower IMR 4200 and worked fine.
