Led4power.com : LD-4 CC linear drivers, ILC-0/1 illuminated tailcaps, optics, MOSX, copper DTP MCPCBs...

What’s a good host for your quad luxeon mcpcb and drivers?

PCB is 20mm, driver is 17mm clicky switch, most people use spacer/kits like form kiriba-ru to fit all in commonly used hosts like convoy M1 etc.

But I dont make M1/M2/X5/VG10 sets anymore…

Added option with non-soldered switch:

XP-L V6 3D DTP (notcigon) vs mosX test:

Results are in table.

This was important/milestone test because a lot of popular single die LEDs come in 3535 footprint.

DTP is a tiny bit better (I calculated how much brighter each LED got in percent), but in reality they are the same with this type of LED.

At higher amps (5+A) ouput quickly starts to drop on both pcbs because heatsinks are not fan cooled,so measurements are not very precise compared to lower amps. I will add fans for other LED tests.

I'm actually little bit surprised how close is mosX to DTP for XP package (even when calculations say the same) since this is package with smallest thermal pad, except osram oslons (but they are almost identical).

I will also test XHP35 HD in a few days, this LED has extreme power density when it comes to Watts/mm2 of thermal pad, but for this LED I actually expect some anomalous results (in a good way for mosX),we'll see what would happen.

How about testing fanless until the output starts to drop and then turning the fan on? I think fanless is more representative of what we see in flashlights.

I did some calculations and XP-L did show some anomalies, on mosX at 6A output should drop close to 5% compared to DTP, but it dropped ~1.5%, I expect similar anomaly for XHP35,at least at similar power levels.

BTW, I don't have integrating sphere, I'm just measuring lux at some (constant) distance from LEDs, for identical type of LED relative output measurement should be correct.

Finally added LD-B4HV

This is 2S/4S variant of LD-B4, please read description in listing for more information.

Two through hole pads at 10-11 o'clock are currently not in use (predicted for future e-switch use).

Sounds like a nice option to replace typical Zener modded drivers.

Added HWB800 42x1,8mm IR filter (blocks visible light,passes IR): HWB800 C8 filter

Maybe a stupid question, but does the LD-B4 come with the PCB housing the external mosfet?

Or do I need to buy the MOSLED MCPCB, and reflow my own?

I plan to run 4x 219C parallel@6A, but not in quad format but in separated boards.

LD-B4 doesn't have mosfet on its own board, mosfet should be on mcpcb. Because you want to use 4x 219c on separated boards, you should connect these 4 leds in parallel like with normal drivers and connect cathodes to mosfet drain that is mounted separated mcpcb. I there enough space for one 20mm mosled pcb (with mosfet only on that pcb) in your flashlight? LEDs can be on standard copper dtp.

Example of LD-B4HV build with Convoy C8 and XHP50.2 powered by 2x18350 aspire cells: C8 XHP50.2

Brightness is good, around 3300-3500lm, but tint is so terrible that it "kills" high lumen feel.

Also, beam is pretty wide, this LED is definitely too big for C8 size, undomed version would be just the right size with good amount of throw and brightness.

Just arrived:

Yes there is room for the extra MCPCB, but what I needed to know if the LD-B4 includes the MOSLED mounted on the MCPCB or do I have to buy it separately?

LD-B4 doesn't include MOSFET, if there is enough space, you should order 4 bare xp boards for LEDs and one mosX board with MOSFET and NTC added, and LD-B4 of course.

Thanks, somehow I missed the “Add ntc+mosfet” option. My LEDs are already mounted on noctigons, but I might reflow one into the mosX to save space.

Any plans of get a MOSLED ( mosX ) 4XP 3535 ?
