Simon (Convoy) @ aliexpress

That one on the bottom right looks like lightsaber. Lol

That’s a Surefire 9P 3S 18350’s 3S triple, it blows emitters up like it is nothing, makes 3 Nichia’s or XP-L’s and XP-L2’s turn instantly BLUE in Turbo, had to run 3-Red Efest 16340’s to be able to run it! Can’t run the little Purple Efest 18350’s in it way too much current. :rage: Got’s to be careful when you run a FETSIR800DD in series!!! :open_mouth:

Back on topic, Simon offered me a substantial discount when I buy in bulk. I refused his kind offer, because, I know when I buy directly from him, he gives me the best he has to offer!

That’s why I like dealing directly with the Da Man!

Oh and sometimes you find extra goodies in your stuff for free!

Scott, brother there is so much to be proud of in that picture I don’t know where to begin. You’re and artist and an inspiration. LOVE IT! :+1:

Thanks Jared! :wink:

:beer: “clink” :beer:

I bought some from Simon, he is very trustworthy, helpful and professional.
I shouldn’t buy a Conwoy from anywhere else.

:+1:

Simon/Convoy completely destroys the theorem “You get what you pay for”. :+1:

Exactly, He’s very Generous and helpful.

I’m only buying a Convoy product from Simon, prices be blasted. He deserves my cash and then some.

wow that l6 aluminium looks killer! damn what a beauty.

I sent Simon a message during the busiest time of year and he responded quickly and professionally. The S2+’s i received exceeded my expectations and arrived at my door faster than any of my other Aliexpress orders! Top Notch! I’m honored to carry his light in my pocket daily! Anybody who sells anything should be taking notes from this guy!!

I’ll also leave a good word for Simon / Convoy AliExpress.

Ordered a Convoy BD04 flashlight that’s listed to have the new Biscotti firmware (I was about to message him to install new firmware since I don’t like the old 5/3-mode group firmware, but saw that the product description now says “new firmware installed already”). Upon receiving the item, I tested it to still have the old firmware which I don’t like. So I reported this issue to Simon/Convoy.

Simon messaged me and asked me to send him a video to show the flashlight indeed has the old firmware. He then tells me that he will send the correct replacement driver if I could change it myself (it required soldering, which I’m not good at). But anyway, I said yes, please send the new driver.

He quickly sends the driver via registered mail which arrived promptly. With some difficulty (and the help I got here in BLF), I managed to change the driver and now my BD04 has the new Biscotti firmware. Happy with the Convoy BD04 now (although my soldering is sloppy…)

But the quickness and no-nonsense communication of Simon/Convoy is really great (unlike in Gearbest, where I encountered some issues with some items, I have to go back and forth with the Customer Service system several times — sending many photos/videos multiple times, before they actually do something about the issue.)

Wow, I don’t know his dipper series of lights were getting Biscotti as well. That’s good to know.

I can confirm that the BD04 and the BD06 have Biscotti firmware now (barring human errors like the one d_t_a ran into). I’ve just ordered a BD01, so I’ll be able to confirm on that one in a few weeks time.

All the BD line is switching to the Biscotti driver but the only way to be certain is to order from Simon’s Convoy store unless it is specified in the listing when purchased anywhere else. Many of the biggest Chinese re-sellers still request Simon install the 3/5 driver in their bulk orders so if you aren’t sure, ask. The only BD light I can think of that may not yet have the new driver is the BD01 so if ordering that one message Simon before ordering if you want the new driver.

Does anyone have a summary or a link to somewhere where all the models of Convoy are listed in comparative terms?

I have several S2+ models
One S2 host - still bare
One C8 clear with biscotti
One L2 on the way
I intend to buy an L6 in the next few months.
I have no idea what is different in an S3, or how a BD or an M series compare, and now there is an S9, and probably others I am unaware of. I really have little inclination to investigate because any time I have looked it seems obvious that there is no effort made to clarify. I am very happy with all Convoy products I have run across, but to my mind the major failing is the inadequate information to compare features and pick between models.
Each product (I would assume) is either a further development of a previous model or is intended to fill a market gap, but this has not been clearly outlined anywhere I have seen.

Yep, a list of all models with specs would be great.

That's true, too many models to confuse us.

But from the little I know (it probably is not meant to be this way, but makes it easier to remember):
S = "Small" compact
S2+ = there are basically 2 variations that I know of: XM-L2 (floody, OP reflector, glass lens) and newer ones that use XP-L Hi (slightly throwier, SMO reflector, AR-coated lens);
many available tints (1A to 7A), max current (7135x8, x6, x4, x3), old or new firmware (5/3-modes or 12-group Biscotti)

there's actually some design changes to S2+ (DesertTan aka SandyBrown and Silver and maybe colored ones = metal click switch, body tube can have clip on top or bottom); the older S2+ has rubber button and clip doesn't seem to be reversible
S2 = supposedly more throwy than S2+ due to reflector design
S3, S4, S5, S6 = ???
S9 = has a micro-USB recharging port

M = "Medium" (compact but bigger head than the "S" series)
M1, M2 = ???

BD = "Big Dipper" series
= has Convoy's own recharging mechanism
BD01, BD06 (supposed to be similar except battery size accepted?)
BD02 ?
BD04 = zoomable (I thnk this may be the only Convoy model that is zoomable, not certain)

C = "Compact" thrower (bigger than BD series but smaller than L2?)
C8 = (you know what this is...)

L = Larger series
L2 = a bigger, more precision version of the C8 in terms of thrower; accepts either 1 or 2 26650s or 18650s (with adapter rings included); 2 batteries is for more runtime; included body extension tube if using 2 batteries)
L4 = (haven't checked specs)
L6 = big floody high-lumens light (XHP70)

The BD series is not Convoy’s design. It’s a copy of the Dipper brand lights which aren’t made any more.

BD02 is 18650 battery and over sized head.

BD03 is S2 sized.

The reflector in the S2 and S8 are deeper (20mm x 21mm) than in the S2+ and S3 (20mm x 12mm). They have the same throw, just different sized spill light.

There is an L4 which is close to the C8 in size, but has a side switch.

There’s the X3 which takes 3 AA batteries or a 26650.

I’ve never heard of the S9. I’m not sure that is an actual Convoy brand light or someone trying to copy Simons brand. I’d be curious to know more about it.

I think all of Simons current lights are in his store, but some of his older or discontinued models are still being sold in certain large online stores, like GB and BG.

fastech has always offered a ton of options on all of these lights

Big thanks to Simon who sent me two switches (free of charge) after my S2+ stop working correctly.
