any words on how bright this light would be?

Hello my dear friends!

today i received a few pictures to keep our brains moving during the Chinese New Year holidays..

please keep in mind thats a prototype (thus the "old" LEDS)

Looks awesome :sunglasses:

was that a powered fan for cooling the heatsink?

Nice, looks like active cooling!

Why did they include a picture of a cpu heatsink and tiny fans? That doesn’t have anything to do with the flashlight.

Maybe it represents their cooling philosophy of a central post to carry the heat and then the fins carry it outward similar in style/design to that cpu heatsink?

It looks like it will use a battery pack instead of individual cells. Not everyone likes packs, so we will have to see how people react.

I hope they switch to a more flush type screw around the switches.

i am just wondering where the fan will be put.

If it’s put inside MF03, it will change a lot

No, no. There is no active cooling in this light. It’s just regular flashlight cooling with fins.

Quite ironic if this light has active cooling. I believe Olight ditched the active cooling in the X9.

If there is no active cooling, why did he take the picture of the fan? That makes no sense

There is definitely not any active cooling. We could have seen that from earlier pictures. It requires a very unique design from the beginning.

I asked the same question about why they included that cpu heatsink picture. I also gave a suggested answer.

The copper cyclinder of that cpu cooler might represent the middle cylinder section of the flashlight. Just like the cpu cooler has fins radiating out from that cylinder, so does the MF03.

I think it was back in December when the first prototype body was built (the shiny body) that we could see it would not have active cooling.

Wow! That thing rocks! I might be interested in it depending the cost for sure!

If it indeed had active cooling the head wouldn’t need to be that big. And would have holes/vents.

Very Interested. count me in

My God, that head with those colling fins :open_mouth:

It seems very close to TR-J20 thermal dissipation…… So, it can handle 10~15k lumens continuous?

its still a prototype and they are fooling around

maybe it comes cooled - maybe not

OMG, you’re killing me. Just got my BLF GT and now you’re gonna throw this at me. Damn you.

I think they would need to decide that at the very beginning of the project, not this far along. You have to design air inlets and outlets to achieve airflow across special sized and shaped heatsinks.

With the current design, about all they could do is strap a little fan on the side of the head and have a special plug for it. That’s not going to be very efficient, though.

They could boost efficiency by enclosing the fins on each side of the fan so all its air is forced out the opposite side. It would not look pretty, though.

Didn’t we have a picture of the cutaway design? I thought we did.

EDIT: I just realized this is the interest list. There is a different thread about the design.
