Astrolux "MF04" discussion thread

If they make it with a bigger flawless reflector, drive it hard, a good User interface and an additional tube extension for extra run time, it could be a GT killer… Interested

That’s a lot of “if”.
I would add : if the real measurements / specifications meet the advertised ones.

It doesnt need to have 8 batteries if its boost driver like in TN42, so theoreticly it can run 70 minutes on HI with 2S2P NCR3500 GA.
You have my interest if GT fails with delivery to my place !

Either/Or , yeah. All the copying, inside, does nothing for my interest.
If lights keep coming to play like this MF-o4, it’s no different than a fat lady on a teeter totter.
LED technology could change tomorrow and bring new toys to the playground

Looks cool for a plumber's helper. Specifications?

Not that I'm particularly interested right now due to financial reasons, but hope they put in a fully regulated driver which can make use of the full battery voltage range as God commands (Sheeesh BLF GT!).

Cheers :-)

Whoa, it’s so ugly…

Technology has changed.

Interested depending on price!

Interested just to see how this develops. I don’t think I’ll need a replacement for my GT but then again I don’t need my GT at all (I just really love it).

That’s a little out there a ways before we see something like it that is sensibly affordable

Yeah if you can afford it, Go for it!

I’m thinking something like this, just a bit smaller, tiny less powerful, still expensive though I know…

:person_facepalming:

Very cool idea though, but not suited for reflector lights.|
Would make an awesome aspheric though.

Interested.

This technology will be good for reflector as well, the angle of radiated white light wont be much different from LEDs

The thing with high power Laser diodes is that they need most likely active cooling for best performance, so next step is a diode with build in TEC, but this wont be energy efficient for passive cooled enough for flashlights

I think this will cost about $150-175 Just a guess, but as I know Astrolux, they want to be on top of it, and the retail price of the GT is $265 I am curious about the specs, if this light is comparable with the GT, I predict that a lot of members will switch to this Astrolux. A lot of my friends ordered the GT, but are mad as hell because of the slow production and refusal of sending with registered mail, witch is totally normal for Banggood. The fact they closed the thread made them even more angry. There money is in the hands of Lumintop for 2 months and a week and no communication whatsoever from Lumintop, Neal or the team. I had to explain why the thread is closed, but they want refunds, no trust anymore. Sad story, but I think I never had to invite them to this group buy.

UPDATE new info from TA, hope is back, friends have calmed down. GT is still the way to go, I am impressed by the quality and performance, so let’s hope shipping is starting again before the Chinese New year lockdown.

Hi Martin, can you tell them to make the head more aesthetically pleasing? I don’t like the way they made this transition from the body to the head, and there is some miss alignment on the… what is that anyway? Anti-roll bumps?

I like the anodizing and the C8 like bezel part… but would never carry a light this big for just 2,500 lumens, the same reason I don’t have a GT. Triple XHP35 HI or XHP70.2 is the way to go.

Interested depending on LED choices.

If it uses the same driver size than the MF02 which is very likely I have already a 6 or 12V output 8A driver
So up to 96W for a 12V wired XHP70.2

Same UI like the GT

Die you read the first post of the GT thread today?
TA made some explanation.

To me, it looks like a Chinese GT clone/ripoff, without the effort of all blf members (that the GT has)

Maybe I missed this explanation if TA, where can I find it?
