How many amps do most 14500 flashlights pull?

Looking to buy a 14500 battery, but it seems the most recommended Sanyo one really only handles 1A and below well.

I see some of the Windyfire and AW batteries (not sure where to buy AW) can do 6A+ though.

I have a little SF14 AA/14500 light.

What do most of these little 1xAA lights pull in amps when driving LED’s at turbo up to 600 lumens or so?

Purple Efest 650mah 14500 do 6.5 amps.

Something like 2-3A probably for your light in turbo.

600 lumens with a xpl-hi V3 or V2 would be around 1.5 amps. The Sanyo would handle this just fine lasting just a little longer than the Efest 650 (purple).
But any light with a higher current draw than 1.5a the Efest will start to dominate the higher you go. Lasting longer and having a higher discharge voltage (less voltage sag). The Efest is a great high current battery in the 14500 size.
If your light is using XP-G2 R5 led 600 lumen’s should be around 2600ma according to Djozz graph.

Your light would benefit from the Efest, higher lumen’s and lasting longer.

I would say on average if its a consumer flashlight like from a major brand about 1.5-2 amps max.

Then you can buy light like the BLF X5 which will do maybe 6amps on turbo.

My recommendation will be out of the ball park here but these Trustfires are good. They perform similiar to my AW 14500 cells.

The trade of here is that a higher drain cells will have less capacity maybe only 150mah less but that is like 20% of overall capacity

I have a question re lumens vs amps for the different kinds of Cree LEDs.

So XP-L Hi V3 @ 1.5A ~600 lumens

Where can I find the data for others, like XM-L2 (let’s assume the usual I see in specs are XM-L2 U2) or for XP-L HD V6?
Are the approximate lumens to amps almost the same? (other than some LED emitters can be driven to higher currents)

Just purchased 4 @ $2.75 US each. Luv those Efest. 18650 and 18350’s on hand.

Both look quite similar, but I’d need to compare their curves to see how they each hold up at different powers.

I just have some (protected) keeppowers in from banggood. In my unmodded tool AA they pull 1,5A.
They test to 930mAh in my Opus @500mA discharge.

nquinn: look at HKJ’s tests at Battery test-review 18650 comparator. They show that the windyfire is somewhat better for high currents. I’m quite satisfied with them.
