I bought my Imalent DX80 from banggood and initially it seemed fine and even the charger seemed to work for the first charge.
Then I noticed that 4 of the 8 LED’s had gone dim and were not lighting up in any power mode… Great…
Queue a dozen emails back and forth to banggoods customer service department…
Is the battery fully charged?
Is the head screwed on properly?
Send us video.
send us pictures.
Is it working yet?
Then in the end they told me to contact imalent….
Finally imalent said send the head back and we will exchange.
Shipping will cost a fortune and I already got shafted with import tax and might even get it again with the return head. (Hopefully sometime this year)
But the main question is… Am I going to get another lemon?
Love the idea of this torch but not really worth the nightmare and building costs.
My dx80 wont charge. Emailing back and forth with bang good is like pulling teeth.
Times like these are when i rethink buying pricey toys like this from china.
I ordered a DX80 from Gearbest yesterday but decided an hour later to cancel so I filled out their cancellation form. This morning I get an email that it has already shipped lol. I've read a lot about the DX80 and for most people it works just fine, but obviously imalent has some serious quality control issues they need to deal with.
Lol indeed. I tried the same with another much cheaper item before and got the same result. Those of you who want to get stuff shipped faster might try cancelling rather than that seemingly useless “dispatch faster” button.
Imalent DX80 currently on sale at GB (MAP =$379.95) $216.00 w/code. Why so cheap if so good? Many times, flash sales, I think GB sell known flawed products.
I'm going to ask Imalent if they can help me repair mine or what to do about it as GearBest won't allow me to make a claim. Everytime I try and send a claim, a pop up comes up and says to check the product and won't allow the claim. Some much for every ordering from Gearbest again.
At least you could report the problem. I would contact CSgearbest, and explain you’ve had this problem from a very early stage since getting this light, also give a link to the discussion of this problem you have.
Should more emitters fail after some weeks or so, at least you will have a foundation from where you can further address the problem that got worse. Of course there is no single guarantee that problems will get resolved, but I feel it will increase your chances. At least you have nothing to loose.
I contacted CSgearbest thanks. I can understand that they mostly may just pass it over to Imalent directly. The good news is that I don't notice any brightness drop with the defect. Just don't want it to spread to more emitters hopefully.
