Any OZ Sydney guys that can change the BLF GT LED to 5700k?

The head should not be glued on.

The rubber gasket holds the front bezel on without glue as it is usually pretty dry.

I hope you succeed in your quest.

once i get the head open the rest is easy.

I have new LEDs E2 3C (ordered from Cutter.com.au) which is far more superior than stock LED BLF GT

Few people open the head using rubber wrench method.

I just ordered the wrench on ebay and hoping it gets here by friday (https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2Pc-Multipurpose-Wrench-Adjustable-Rubber-Strap-Opener-Bottle-Pipe-Oil-Filter/162735615293?hash=item25e3cc6d3d:g:xUoAAOSwYVlZ~BAn)

where about in Sydney are u locate?

Southside of the Airport.

Where are you?

What temp is that LED that you have got?

Yagoona… about 40 minutes away from u.

let me do mine first and see how it go. The hard bit is opening the head and im waiting for the wrench.

I believe it’s 5000K (XHP 35 E2 3C )

I went to school at Bankstown and lived there for 40 years.

I can do it but I don’t have the led? Do you already have the new led? Do you want to keep the original led board?

I do not have the LED yet.

The driver board is probably going to stay.

Why change it?

The head is easy to get open, I have had the head and bezel apart now.

I used a bench vice with rubber jaws and a strap wrench to get the head open, and two strap wrenches to get the bezel off.

I mean the board the LED sits on? Will you buy an LED already on a board or use the original MCPCB? Mean i would have to reflow the LED onto the old board.

I stopped reading the GT thread along time ago so i am not sure what sizes they are using for the LED and driver.

The stock driver will be fine if you are replacing the LED with the same LED XHP35.

im having extreme difficulty trying to open the bezel with the rubber wrench.

Will give it ago again later

Heat it up? Don’t go to crazy with the heat just enough for the loctite to loosen up.

dont want to use heat as im worry about the heat pressure can crack the glass.

will try warm water (about 50 degrees) tomorrow.

I think the wrench is just bad with griping….i will look for another type.

There is no Loctite used on the GT threads.

Then it should be easy enough to get apart lol.
Do you want help?

Me? Already done mine, thanks.

I wouldn’t say it was easy, though. It took a ~40cm extension bar on a strap, with the torch held in a vice, before it budged.

I guess it all depends on how much Wheaties the Lumintop employee had that morning when they tightened it up….

I’ll give it ago again tonight and wanting to handle with care.

Hate scratches or dent to my torches

Asking nick if he needs help.

Yea some people took there of easy.

Strap wrench doesn’t have the most grip it will slip with out much force. I guess that may also depend on the quality of the tool.

Nick what about trying a clamp? Like an F clamp?

I want to use the same XHP35 but in the 5700k tint.

I could send the head if you already have a GT there to test it on.

What area of Sydney do you live in?

I live just south of Sydney Airport.

I might be able to bring it over to you.
