*** NEW *** Haikelite MT09R Monster lights *** Update *** 2018-07-03

It’s a limited edition colour for the MT09R. Standard production colour is only Black and Silver/White. If I’m not mistaken, Terry still has some Navy Blue models left that were not sold during the group buy. So if they’re gone they’re gone, so you’d better hurry!

Navy Blue does seem to be a standard colour for the new SC26 though.

Oh I already bought two MT09R already so probably going to wait for upcoming products.

Cool! I got one Green NW 70.2, and one Tan/Sand/Yellow/Khaki/Wehavenoideawhatcolourthisis NW 70.2. :sunglasses:
Which two did you get?

I like to call it gold. Most beautiful color I’ve seen yet. I bought two of those. One 4000k, one 5000k

Yeah it’s definitely pretty. Really was a difficult choice, but first I went for Blue (the original bright blue) instead of Tan. But after Haikelite changed to the current Navy Blue I switched to Tan. The green is quite special too.
Button top VTC6 and 30Q are anxiously waiting for their arrival. :sunglasses:

i was torn between the khaki and the blue one. Both are Nice i wished i can order both.

So I’ve been thinking about the 8x18650 battery tube for this light. It’s going to look great, especially if it will be available in the group buy colours as well, so green, blue and sand/tan. But wouldn’t a dedicated handle on such a monster light be the cherry on the cake? :sunglasses:

I think if this thing can maintain the heat from 4000 lumens, then it would make sense to have an 8x18650 battery tube. If it can only maintain 2k lumens, then I don’t see much use for an 8x extension tube unless it makes the turbo mode brighter.

^ Makes sense. But I do notice with my Astrolux MF01 that batteries do drain quite fast if you use turbo (~10000 lumens) regularly. It’s a bit borderline whether it makes sense or not, but man it will look good.

the retail lights will peak on 7000 lumens or so… only a few sample lights dont produce more then 4000 lumen for some reason. As the light is 7500 lumens to Haikelite it would be strange it it peaks just half that, so no worry.

I think he’s talking about continuous output that the light can maintain, not max.

Please allow me a short note - I just found a possible error in the manual.

The LED in the switch which shall indicate the power level of the batteries is mentioned as:

- 100% to 50%: Blue LED on

- 50% to 9%: Blue LED flashes twice every 10 seconds

  • below 9%: Red LED flashes twice everx 10 seconds

In fact, my XHP70-version shows more likely:

- 100% to 15%: Blue LED on

- 15% to 5%: Blue LED flashes every second

  • below 5%: Red LED flashes every second

Regarding the 15 or 5 I have to add that I did not measure it - I just had the impression, because the flashlight worked for hours with the blue LED on, but after it started blinking it might have taken 20 minutes until it changed to red.

When this happened I just made a small test (yes, double klick still works, even though the “Turbo” is no real Turbo anymore, understandable…), took out the batteries and directly placed it in the MC3000, reading 2,93V.

Also: please do not drive it down to the end using unprotected cells - Markus from lilahand.de already found out that the Anti-discharge-protection of the MT09R does not work. With empty batteries the flashlight will enter some kind of “Moonlight”-Mode, where it stays for the rest of the battery-life.

He stopped it after 24 hours measuring 2,49V at all 4 batteries… at least it takes out the energy quite balanced…

Thanks. You might want to check whether the 35 shows same or similar behaviour (to see whether it is an isolated case or not). I’ve had issues with the battery indicator on my MT07S 70.2. It blinks blue, even though the batteries are full (close to 4.20V). I don’t know what will happen if I deplete the cells though. The odd thing is that I’ve done two driver swaps, and identical problem remained. On another driver the battery indicator does not work at all. So I have four drivers for the MT07S not functioning properly. The light itself works well though.

Your wish was my command.

While having another DT70 working with unprotected flat top, I used their batteries in the XHP35. The experience is similar & different:

- it’s similar, because also this one does not blink every 10 seconds, but like the XHP70 every second

- it’s different because it changes from “on” to “blinking” at 3,63V - so in this case the 50% seem to be real. Based on this also the last changing level (the above mentioned 9%) seem to realistic - after blinking red I measured 3,02V

Conclusion:

- the type of signal does not correspond to the manual

- the XHP70 seems to signal the levels wrong

  • the XHP35 seems to signal the levels right

Regarding the XHP35 I just recognized another point:

While running at about 1.200 lm the MT09R gets hot - and I mean hot in a way you do not want to hold it in your hand. This is - from my point of view - interesting, because we talk about a quite low energy level. While running the XHP70 at the same level I did not even recognize a raise in temperature.

Hopefully this is just another indicator for a faulty driver…

Interesting. If the 35 gets too hot, it means the batteries are being drained, although the led is not getting the most of it. This could be tricky, but the batteries are not exceeding safe discharge rate and temperature as the Imalent cells are protected 30Q. But this driver is going to be replaced anyway. Thanks for the data!

Which from my point of view can be the problem of the actaully delivered XHP35-Version with the output at 3.500 lm and not at the specified 7.500 lm (or actually corrected 7.000 lm).

It seems like there is something in the driver that consumes the power instead of bringing it to the LEDs…

Nope, the IMALENT was running on unprotected LG HG2 - which in this case also do not have a problem with the current. And if you ask yourself regarding the DT70: it’s one of my last ones which has spring contacts in the tube - the actual versions run on protected AND unprotected cells…

:sunglasses:

When is it available for purchase? I haven’t been paying attention.

The MT09R is actually out for delivery.

Depending on the country you live you might check for the sales reps - for North America it’s Terry, you find him here as Haikelite USA official

http://budgetlightforum.com/user/27241

Official GB shipped directly by Haikelite closed two weeks ago on 31/01/2018. See GB thread here.

Terry who now represents Haikelite in US and Canada may still have a couple of lights available for sales, but he only ships within US and Canada. If you are in US/Canada, you can order from his website, He Said She Said Sales.

Well I got two sets of 30Q charging; one set in the Zanflare C4, and the other in the VP4. Tracking says that my lights will arrive tomorrow, woot! :sunglasses:
