I am wondering WHO will be the first lunatic to put 3 LMZ7-QW65/QW57s under 10507 with VTC5A and witness quickest step down/throw out of hand/deflow/melt optics in history
EDIT: I forgot about poor little omten 1288 :weary:
Well about FETed switch I am not feeling a need for one. That would be making a whole built “sensible and safe” which by all means it is not. For the sake of care and longevity for sure but I would love to see omten in action :innocent: I am wondering the same about hole, especially with potential one inside of trousers pocket
I Agree with this one although I am highly concerned that if I decide to build one with S2+ in a month or so Lumileds will maybe release HiCRI Vs and then I will regret?
Carclo stated efficiency of 92% for 10507 with MZs.
Yes, that’s actually just what I did after posting :person_facepalming:
They haven’t tested the Luxeon V yet, though. I know it wont be good but actual numbers and beamshots are still a nice thing.
MZ would be brighter of course at any current, and Vf is crazy low,CC regulation would be maintained ~100% of time even at high mode, I'm just not sure how well it would work with small optics, total die size is bigger than tir entrance holes. Since I got 20mm mosDTP boards,I will build M1 with 5000K 80CRI MZ, just to see how they look in flashlight, XHP50.2 was total disappointment because of terrible tint/coronas.
I wonder what’s the relation between Luxeon MZ, Luxeon M and Luxeon MX…
Is M the same as MZ, but with a dome and larger package?
If yes, dedoming should bring the same performance at low currents and better at high - due to larger thermal pads.
MX is an upgraded variant of M. Eyeballing photos it seems to have about the same die sizes. And doesn’t look flip chip. And emission profile looks the same too. Is there a chance of it being better than MZ?
They all have same MZ core (4x4.2mm,4x Z ES chips), M and MX have full dome and white ceramic 7070 frame, footprint is the same for all leds, MX is basically updated flux bins Luxeon M, I don't see other differences.
Lower max soldering temperature, higher max current, higher Vf. Though slight differences may not actually mean a different product…
I had troubles reading the pad specs…thermal pad is the same. Good for compatibility, bad for performance.
Anyway, if that’s the case, dedomed MX should reach about XHP35 HI luminosity. Maybe even higher.
Thermal pad is big enough anyway, performance gain with bigger pad would be hard to see (I'm not saying that 7070 pad would be bad,but Philips did this for compatibility reasons).
Currently probability of finding higher flux QW (3V bin) of MX is second to none, for small quantities at least. There is higher chance of getting 3V M but just in 3000K and maybe 4000. I made few quotes on taobao asking for availability of LXR7-QW57/QW65 versions of M and they are out of stock everywhere.
I will keep searching for them but meanwhile if someone find reasonable source I would greatly appreciate sharing it with me and others
