Clone of On The Road M3 ~$13

And double click from ON? Have you tried?

EDIT: on my (old) version that’s the way it changes group modes, double click from ON!

:+1:

YES!

I did try that originally too and forgot to add it in my comment. But now that you asked I tried it again and after about 7-8 tries I finally double clicked it just right (from ON) to enter ramp. It seems to be a rapid double click and RELEASE…

(I thought you would have to hold in the button for ramping, that’s how my other ramping lights work)

…with this light to start in ramping you don’t hold the button down, when you release it ramps on its own (without pressing / holding the switch) Then a single click to stop and hold the level, another single click re-starts ramping again.

A double click during ramping toggles back to 3-mode.
A double click from the level that you stopped ramping at also toggles back to 3-mode

Ramping is smooth and quick, there’s no flashes or stops at highest or lowest levels.
Ramping memory: If you turn it off during ramping (long press) next time on will start in ramping again.

Sorry I keep editing that last post as I’m learning it :person_facepalming:
:student:

My other ramping lights you have to hold in the button for ramping and release to stop/hold

This one you release to enter, then it ramps “hands free” then click to stop/hold

A rundown of the UI

Nice video. I think this new UI is a big improvement over the first one. I often have trouble remembering on is a fast click and off is a long click. I get it mixed up sometimes. Lol.

I totally agree, I hate when they do that, (are you listening Olight?) it’s so confusing, especially when you have a bunch of different lights. Make it the same for on and off !

Although I prefer the other way around: Single click for on and off, long press to scroll the levels. I love it when you can just click the damn thing on and off, so simple, it just feels right, like an old maglite. I think that’s my favorite UI, it’s what the Thrunite TC20 has.

.

Note: Not sure if Olight has changed that, my S15 / S20 / S30 are pretty old, but they all have that crappy UI.

Thanks for the video Dirty_Pierre! It helped to solidify beam0 posts above about the UI! Much better than the light I have, that has the “old” UI!

The ramping seems “Crescendo”, as it doesn’t stop on bottom or top and it is not controlable by the user, although Crescendo has “blinks” to let one know it has reached the top or bottom!

I wish I was able to mod this light’s driver, it is pretty nice…

Thanks for the demonstration!

Hum, I have the S1R Baton (16340), and I like 2 things on its UI: you can jump to the Turbo 1 (600lm) with double click from OFF, and can enter Moonlight with press and hold. That way, despite you may have forgotten the last used mode, you can always start on the lowest mode

Actually, I wish other lights had the same UI! (direct access to ML and Turbo are a very big plus for me)

Your welcome, glad the video helps clarify the UI a little.
Yes, it is like crescendo, but a blink would be nice. The only control over the ramping is a single click to stop it, and it is a little hard to stop it exactly where you want it. A lower level low would be great too and shortcuts like olight, but for the $$ I’m not complaining.

But does the S1R Baton still has long press ON, single click OFF like the other Olights I mentioned? :rage:

.

That’s EXACTLY how the Thrunite TC20 works…

But it’s also single click ON and single click OFF! :+1: It’s perfect! Luv it!!

The S1R has single click for ON and it will get ON on the last used mode.
When ON press and hold to cycle throught L>M>H.
To access ML its press and hold from OFF.
To access Turbo 1 (600lm) it’s a double click from ON or OFF and to access Turbo 2 (900lm) it is another double click when already on Turbo 1.
To get back from T2 to T1 its a double click.
To get to the regular modes, from T1 or T2, it’s just a press and hold, and it will cycle again through L>M>H
To lock the light, it’s a long press and hold (the light will turn ON in ML, and then shuts OFF. The switch will become red everytime it is pressed while locked!)

Despite I preferred to always start on Low, the possibility to start on ML is a very big plus.

So is OFF also a single click?

It is, yes, beam0  Forgot to mention that :person_facepalming:

I thought this flashlight was €8.21318 (ie 8 euro 21 cent, I thought all decimal point was just conversion)
I tried to order but I think the payment failed.

Now I look at the dollar price and it says $9,999 (ie 10 thousand dollars !)

What the hell! Is this some kinda scam ?

I seriously hope they did not try to charge me $10k for a flashlight.

Since China is celebrating New Year, everything is shut down until the end of the February. Aliexpress sellers are not working, too. In order to stop people from making orders that won’t be fulfilled in at least 10-15 days, some sellers change all prices to some insane amounts or set all items to out of stock.

The misunderstanding is that where I come from, the decimal point is used to denote cent.

So €8.21 = 8 euro 21 cent
€8,213.00 = 8 thousand two hundred and thirteen euro, zero cent

But apparently they use different separators in different countries…which seems dumb/confusing.

So I thought this $10k flashlight was €8.21 and tried to order :person_facepalming:
All the comments were saying it was about $10 so it seemed right :person_facepalming:

I didn’t actualy look at decimal separator knowing why the price was like that. And yes, it’s a locale thing. In my country we use decimal comma, and it appears that most of the (civilised) world uses decimal point. Since I’m into programming, I have my brain wired to use decimal point. As a result, I have a really hard time reading numbers in some local arbitrary format, so I understand you completely.

It was a dumb mistake on my part … I was just ordering quickly and my brain saw €8 + change.
Gearbest, Banggood etc use the separators I am familiar with so it didn’t even cross my mind to check this.

I guess they change to $9,999 instead of ‘out of stock’ because they figure nobody would be dumb enough to order at that price …. but I proved them wrong :person_facepalming:

Oh well

But maybe they’re hoping someone does, and sends payment :money_mouth_face:

OK so Olight made their UI perfect.

That’s EXACTLY the same as the UI of Thrunite TC20, (except the Thrunite only has 1 turbo)
Best UI there is. I wish all my lights had this.
