Petzl and Black Diamond Headlamps. What brand of LED's do they use?

Just wondering if anyone knows what brand of LED’s are used in Petzl and Black Diamond headlamps?

They could be using all well known brands in their different models.

What will this info tell you?

Just curious. What it would tell me is this. If they use no name generic LED’s then they are not committed to making a high quality products.

For the brighter models Petzl definitely use standard non-generic power LEDs.

See here for example:

Petzl Nao

It has been like this for many years, as can be seen here.

Dimmer models might use 5mm LEDs:

Tikka Plus 4

Black Diamond doesn't make really bright headlamps. There is really no need to using expensive LEDs.

Still, they also use standard power LEDs:

You can't really draw conclusions from this though! Solid engineering doesn't just consist of choosing a "good" LED. Many other aspects are really much more important to make a good headlamp.

Generally I would reccomend other brands though because you often times get more performance for the money (constant brightness, higher brightness, more modes, better color rendering, better beam profile etc.).

Thank you for the info.

Who are you to be so concerned about what questions other people ask?

You do realize that this thread is 4 months old an the OP’s question was answered, right? You are a bit late to show up and be offended.

Actually 1 year and 4 months

Black Diamond’s Cosmo 225 lumen headlamp is comfortable to wear and bright for aaa powered lights. Certainly 18650 powered headlamps are brighter but are heavy in comparison.
