My GT arrived on thursday, and it truly is awesome. Both packages were quite moistured and the lamp itself also had some moisture on outer surfaces and inside the tube, but otherwise in good condition. Also got the batteries with the lamp, and thats really great, because ordering batteries to Finland has been impossible for the past few months.
Great work from the BLF GT crew and all the people that were making this possible
Thanks!
It’s 2000m, and yes there are laser-phosphor flashlights coming in 2018 that will give a lot more throw and less lumens.
It’s not an LED flashlight though, and won’t get anywhere near the same amount of lumens.
Initially, yes. I suspect Lumintop tightens the big bezel before tightening the upper head to the lower “light engine”. This way they don’t have to turn the bezel against the massive friction of the huge o-ring against the glass.
So I would recommend everyone to loosen the upper head first so you take all the tension off of the reflector, glass and bezel and then it should be a lot easier to turn. Using this new technique I can take my GT apart and put it back together with my bare hands.
Here is my older post on taking it apart:
I would try and find a pair of cheap rubber strap wrenches. After loosening the bezel on mine, I hand tightened it so I would be able to remove it by hand later. Nope, it’s too tight again. I had to use the strap wrenches once more. That o-ring against the lens is a real friction freak.
The head was hard to loosen, but it’s no big deal to tighten and loosen again. No tools needed after the first loosening.
I got a 2 pack of rubber strap wrenches at my local Northern Tool store for $5. Check your local stores bargain bins where the cheap tools are.
