Thrunite TC20 - XHP70 - 3800lm

Oh, crap, you have four lights that I want to buy (SC-02, TC-20, DQG and Q8). I love NW around 5000K and the least discoloration. Tell me which of the flashlights are you most happy with? I am asking about color, size, modes, etc. I care about a big leak.

TC20 NW has very nice cream white hotspot & yellowish corona in close distance. Just like all other Cree XHP70.2 LEDs. It’s just the nature of new full covered phosphor LED, no big deal! I dislike hint of green tint from the dedome/shave dome LED more!

charles………

I dont know if you saw my post HERE but if you get a good slice on the emitter first , then cut straight down right at the edges of the die itself very carefully and get all that other phospor off , then the beam will actually have less greenish cast in it and tighten up some also.

Getting that layer of phosphor off around the die itself is key to getting rid of what I call the “Olive” cast around the main hotspot.

Note this is based on the CW emitter………the NW emitter would probably get way too warm or yellow if the slice and dice method was used.

They all have pro & con, none of them is perfect.
Q8 is a great light, one of best UI on the market, nice beam & tint, but machining can’t compare with Olight & Thrunite. I found Q8 is too heavy & bulky for some of my tasks.
DQG is the light I use most because the TIR & tiny size. V2 NW version has very nice cream white 5000k Tint unlike V1. NW has very warm NWTint. Although, It is a great light for daily use, but I don’t trust the reliability in the harsh environment. The switch feels kind weak.
SC-02 is my least like light, big bulky & heavy, machining is so so, the UI is just ok, switch is not very responsive.
Thrunite TC20 is my favor 26650 by far, Machining is very good, build quality feel solid, size is good for any tasks, Tint is good for Cree XHP 70.2. I don’t have any complaint so far……
By the way, lumen output # never my major concern, Tint/size/ practical are more important for me!

Hi, Thanks for tip & detail explane. I don’t have skill to dedome/shave dome LED; however, I have few shave dome moded lights from Vinh. I do like tighter hotspot & natural tint, but no matter what type of LED, floody or throwy, they all have hint of green tint especially indoor & on white wall.

Q8 arrived yesterday and stay with me for longer. It is great as the need for power and not necessarily a huge range. Interface …. I fell in love. Well, machining is not really the number one, but there is no tragedy. I’ve even taken measurements and are in my footer. charles lin, thank you for your answer, you helped me make some decisions. I am stripping SC-02 from the shopping list. DQG and maybe TC20 are left.

Anyone tried swapping led with MT-G2?
Mike

I got to looking into the LED on the lowest setting and noticed spots. Is this normal, or a bad LED?

You can measure the output?

If the output is ok, I didnt worry about it :stuck_out_tongue:

I have no way to measure it correctly. The spots are not black, so I presumed it to be normal.

I ordered the TC20 because after doing research, it seems this is still the brightest 26650 flashlights and is brighter than the newly released Acebeam EC50 III with same emitter. However, I’m really nervous that I will get one with greenish tint. I already have the DQG Tiny III v3 7xXPG2 which I like alot because of the creamy tint and small size. I also have the SC-02 ordered several weeks ago but waiting for arrival. I doubt I will use the SC-02 that much as it is dimmer than the DQG and TC20 but I wanted to try an MT-G2 flashlight. Also Haikelite user interface is improving alot and I’m in love with their recent MT09R monster flashlight.

Where do you order the tc20? :open_mouth:

On Thrunite’s website.

They dont ship to brazil  :person_facepalming: :weary:

Have you tried Amazon? Or you can send Thrunite an email to see who sells to Brazil.

The problem to order in amazon……

Amazon request the full fee tax for our “armed robbery’s brazil cost”, I can buy almost 3 TC20 which this amount :person_facepalming:

http://www.hkequipment.net/product-p/tc20 maybe?

Out of stock, they sent an email for me

Charles,
Could you elaborate a bit on pros/cons of TC20 vs DQG? I’m attracted to DQG becuase it is substantially smaller - that makes a large difference for me as to whether light actually gets used or remains a shelf queen. Everything else about the TC20 seems better to me, wondering if it’s worth it for extra size.

Price:
DQG won! no matter with or without coupon code for both lights.
Machining & built quality:
TC20 won! DQG has no comparison.
Size:
DQG is much smaller, But TC20 has built-in charger, very Convenience in case of emergencies, camping & travel. All you need is a power bank.
Beam & tint:
I like DQG NW V2 better, Tint is cream white 5000k similar to my Emisar D4 XP-G2 S4 3D. I also like big even hotspot from TIR.
TC20 NW has good tint & beam ,but you can clear notice tint shift in close distance. However, TC20 is much brighter.
Reliability:
All my Thrunite flashlight refuses to die no matter how I abuse them. One of my DQG broken because the switch failed.
Others:
DQG has a very small switch, hard to find in the dark, It also feels kinda weak.
TC20 has a soft clicky feel switch with battery indicator built-in.

I love both lights! If I can only pick one………. Thrunite TC20!

I like thrunite lights… user interface, and their driver…

You do not help
I will have to buy both.
