Thrunite TC20 - XHP70 - 3800lm

Iā€™ve always wanted that DQG 26650, glad I didnā€™t get it yet since now itā€™s on itā€™s 3rd version.

Wondering why Charles said the Machining/Build quality has no comparison? Iā€™ve read the Machining and Annodizing was good, (Itā€™s good on my DQG 18650 Tiny 1st) And the knurling on 26650 Tint III it looks great. Unless heā€™s just referring to the switch. Not sure if thereā€™s been switch issues on the 26650 v3 like there was on the most recent 18650 versions.

Donā€™t see really how we can compare a 7x TIR LED to a single reflectored LED, isnā€™t the DQG more of a flooder? Yeah theyā€™re both compact, high output 26650, but birds of a different feather I thought. Got to have both.

If you use your finger across DQG body up & down, you will feel many sharp edges around all over the body (stainless bezel, heat sink fins & lanyard hole). All my acebeam/Thrunite/Olight/Fenix have machining Chamfer for every single edge. So, you wonā€™t fell any sharp edge in your hand.
I have two DQG 26650, one doesnā€™t pass my waterproof test & some minor Scratches on TIR lens. Another one received with broken O-ring & did not incoulde any spare o-ring. I never have such problems with Thrunite flashlights.

OK thanks for clarifying that! I just checked my DQG 18650 and it also has the sharp edges compared to the TC20

I love the DQG for that, wish more lights were this aggressive in the knurling.

Itā€™s how close this Thrunite gets that makes me want it.

I know Iā€™m hell bent to find aggressive knurling lately!
The DQG is a nice compact bright light, but I wouldnā€™t be considering it if it didnā€™t have that awesome DQG knurling.

.

Just ordered a Wowtac A3S zoomie, looks like the same knurling as Thrunite. Hope so.

The WowTac is pretty neat, but not in the same class.

I only posted about it here for the knurling discussion  Yes a different class in output and style, but as far as build quality/construction I think Wowtac may be pretty close if not equal to Thrunite? The switch appears to be the same too. Just hoping for the same knurling as TC20 has, and it does appear to be.

While the Wowtac (Atactical) lights I have , which is almost all of them , are very good quality and designed much like the Thrunite lights in the same class and type , Thrunite does still have an edge on the knurling design.

Wowtac does receive technical support from Thrunite and follows many of their design features , but the knurling although it is good on the Wowtac , still isnā€™t quite as good , or as aggressive as Thrunite.

Although similar the Thrunite knurling is a slightly larger pattern and slightly more raised.

Below picture (Left to Right) is the Thrunite TC12 V2 ā€¦.the Wowtac A1S V2ā€¦.and the Wowtac A3S

Well gosh robo, why didnā€™t you go ahead and use the TC20 in this comparison?

Yes, knurling class is what I was referring too. I too have the A3 (from robo) and while the knurling is good on it itā€™s not to the level of the DQG Tiny nor is the anodizing Type III in my opinion.

TC20 was in the bedroom and I didnā€™t want to wake the wife in the wee hours when I took the picture this morning.

Just for you though upon your request , here is the TC20 (Left) and the A3Sā€¦ā€¦ā€¦ā€¦.

Thanks, technically theyā€™re fairly similar but the Thrunite does have a larger pattern that comes across as more aggressive. I like the way it reflects light, shows that it has more surface area to the diamonds and will be grippier.

I just received my TC20 that I bought from Thrunite directly but it surprisingly came in an Amazon Prime box!

The light is bigger than I thought especially because I had a DN70 and currently own a DQG Tiny III 7xXPG2. The TC20 is bright but the hotspot is tighter than I like and I donā€™t like the green around the hotspot and bluish hint in the large spill. Beam and tint wise, I much prefer the Haikelite SC02 MTG2 5000k and DQG Tiny III NW (I estimate 3800k to 4000k) with more creamy tint and larger hotspots. I just canā€™t stand yellow or green tint.

Is your light NW or CW?

Thanks Dale, and thanks Robo for the close up photos. I just received my A3s today and yeah although the knurling is much better than most, itā€™s definitely not in the same class as Thruniteā€™s. But Iā€™m real happy with it.

Neutral White.

Even the 70.2 neutral is not even close to as nice as the MT-G2.

I agree even my tc20 cool white have hint of green at low outputā€¦ i am not worried muchā€¦ this light is great for me. I know i am getting a good quality light from thrunite.

Just got my NW in the mail today. Itā€™s tiny, and I love it. I canā€™t wait to take it outside! Iā€™m colour blind so donā€™t ask me about my thoughts on tint etc lol

beam0, I put a de-domed XM-L2 U4 in my A3 with an FET with ramping firmware, makes it a pretty wicked little zoomie!

I donā€™t notice all these rainbow issues using the light outdoors, only if I shine it against a white wall. But even then itā€™s not enough to concern me, it has a nice neutral tint.

But I read an interesting comment about a XHP70.2 in a different thread today:

ā€œthe XHP70.2 4000k 80+CRI, which has perfect neutral tint that is nearly indistinguishable from the legendary Nichia NVSL219BTā€

Anyone know where to get this ā€œperfect neutralā€ emitter?
