Who's hanging out for an "On The Road" headlamp

I really like my On The Road M3 - I like it just as much as my Olight S Mini. The M3 is a fantastically made, easy to pull apart, and really practical bit of gear. It's obvious they've taken a few design queues from Olight across their line up...

Which makes me wonder...who's waiting for On The Road to come out with a headlamp - perhaps a competitor to the Olight H2R Nova? Their marketing department doesn't take requests do they? :)

I’m in for that, although I already have the Olight H1 Nova, Fenix HL50 . I can’t understand why I need more?

I already use my OTR M3 as a headlamp, but this is pretty cool.

I was wondering if maybe someone had one and could tell us something about it hopefully.

Is the li-ion battery sealed in the housing and is it user replaceable?

I can’t tell from the linked page.

OTR would have some stiff competition from the already established Skilhunt H03 series headlamps. I don’t know about how well that bicycle lamp turned into a head lamp would work out.

It does not come with a battery. You need to supply your own battery pack with a USB interface.

I saw the different cable options, but thought those were for charging up an internal cell.

I don’t do external battery packs, in HLs, so I’m out! It is pretty compact, however.

Not enough affordable 18350 powered angled lights out there, IMO. Perhaps OTR could capitalize on that?

Honestly, there isn’t a huge weight penalty going from an 18350 up to an 18650 at 45-50gm, unless you’re an ultra-light backpacker. An 18650 has easily 3 times the capacity and better current handling, if you’re sporting a ‘blazer’ HL.

My 3 HLs are a Black Diamond Storm (3xAAA), a Fenix HL30 (2xAA) and a NiteCore HC50 (1x18650, 2xCR123As) and something like my Olight S Mini with angled head, or one of those Manker doohickeys might be neat, but I don’t think that a bigger 18650 jobbie is that much of a hardship for the casual user.

I’m no caver and I’m not a camper, so having to have some external battery pack powering my HL is definitely out of the question.

To each his own, however.

I have an H03 already, and it is excellent. I actually want a second one for the car glove box, but would happily give an OTR angled light a go too (provided it had similar features to the H03).
