XHP70.2 high output semi-thrower recommendation

Hi,

frustrated with lack of interesting XHP50.2 options out there Im considering a high output single XHP70.2 with larger, deeper reflector or a throwy multi-emitter light in the 5000+ lumen range and good UI. Preferably running on 3-4x18650’s instead of 2x26650’s, with mixed beam - decent throw with wider hotspot and quite a lot of usable spill.

At the moment Im considering Haikelite MT07S XHP70.2 but would like to discuss other options. At Sky Lumen’s page I found the Mateminco MT35vn, which is basically Astrolux MF02 with XHP70.2 which makes precisely the type of beam I like. But at 200+ dollars it is out of consideration.

Check the desired beam HERE.

As for multi emitter LEDs, please propose only the ones with similar beam like above, I dont like all out flooders.

Acebeam K65?

Looks great, amazing beam. But too big for my practical use and too expensive. Seems that the XHP50 and 70 LEDs come either with reflectors that are too small - turn out as almost all-out flooders or “full-size” only. The middle ground is somewhat rare, for example Haikelite MT01 or Kaidomains’ K5S. Im not overtly excited about any of those two :expressionless:

5000 lumens u cant expect small lights really…

Maybe you can find someone to mod MF-02 for you?
Vinh does not really take much for his mods, but I wouldn’t be surprised if there was someone willing to do it cheaper…

5000+ Lumens OTF
3-4 18650
Decent throw

This needs to be a big light.

>5000 OTF Lumens with todays emitters is going to generate a lot of heat. You’re going to WANT a big heavy light to conduct heat properly.
>XHP70.2 needs a large reflector to achieve throw. Just basic light physics, its 4 dies arranged 2x2 as one. So you need a reflector to best focus it.

The haikelite MT70S checks off most of those requirements, while being smaller than the K65. (90mm reflector VS 68mm)

How long the MT70s maintains at 5000 Lumens and how far out it throws are your main variables to consider.

The K65 will out throw it though, and I think it drives the LED harder too (let others correct me on that).

The problem is just that it never reaches 5.000 lm at all - those models are measured around 4.000 lm.

At the end the K65 - based on the spex - might actually be the only solution when you do not want to go the way of multi-emitter models like the TK75 2018.

I recommend strongly the MT07S. Got it today — it THROWS and FLOODS and is 4,994 lumens out of the box (I have the NW). I wish I had gotten it earlier. Please, trust me, just get it!!!

I am considering the MT07S, but for some reason I still cant get rid of the feeling, that haikelite is a kind of backyard manufacturer with questionable product specs and customer service. Perhaps if they came with second generation of their lights, that would have better design, quality control and smarter UI I would give it a try.

Maybe the Q8 modded with XP-L Hi’s would be another option to consider?

I actually really like Haikelite products. The two MT09R I bought worked wonderfully and more usable than any of the other high power lights I have. It is also the brightest 3xXHP70.2 on the market. The SC02 I have with the MTG2 is also great. Haikelite have been trying a lot of new things such as using emitters other companies would not even look at (E.g. MTG2, XHP70.2 4000k 80+ CRI, ramping driver). If you are concerned and want warranty, buy it from Terry instead of BG or GB
