Nice to see you interested in this too. :+1:

Please add me to the interest list. Thanks.

Personally Iā€™d love to see this one use a 2700k tint. Yeah, thatā€™s very warm for a flashlight but IMHO it would be perfect for a lantern. I usually go for 2700k for my home lighting since it just feels nicer and more natural.

Interested, thx.

Personally DBsar, I would think the best emitters would be Nichia 219Cs in the 3500-4000k CCT range.

The 219c is a very nice LED, but since it is not the most efficient emitter out there it does not fit into the lanterns idea of maximum efficiency. Swapping LEDā€™s in the lantern should not be too difficult if you feel it is necessary.

Every time I go out for a fire, or help a buddy work on a car. Or just hanging out after dark having a drink outside I think about how nice this lantern will be.

Initially I wasnā€™t interested, because how often would I use a lantern? But Iā€™ve been using my Q8 in candle mode a lot for the past few months, so I think the BLF lantern will be a nice thing to have.

Iā€™ve been meaning to add a shutoff timer to the candle mode so I can turn it on then go to sleep. Iā€™m thinking itā€™ll be on forever by default, but the user could click three times to add 30 minutes to the timer. So, turn it on with click-click-hold, and it goes into candle with no timer. Click 3 times to set the timer to 30 minutes. Repeat for 60 minutes. Then maybe 12 minutes pass and the user decides to extend the timer again, so click 3 times to increase it from 48 minutes to 78 minutes.

Could also be useful while hanging out after dark. Likeā€¦ we can chat for a while, but when the candle burns out itā€™s bed time. Just set the timer to 2 hours or whatever.
