ENEDED

I'd like to add some useful information regarding this "clone" on Amazon. I asked the seller a question if it is based on the Astrolux MF-01 and what emitter type was used on it. I received the following response.

911-L1 uses XPG3 LEDs. Its cool white. In an effort to design a better flashlights, our engineers studied many high power flashlights available; however, our design is not based on a particular flashlight. We hope you enjoy your 911-L1. If you like this product, I would appreciate very much if you would grant us a positive review.

Have a wonderful Sunday. Thank you.

Sincerely,

Mary

Maybe it’s an unbranded Mateminco MT18 built for the 911 company?

At least we know it’s CW xpg3.

Time for CSI.

It is indeed identical to the XP-G3 MF01, other than the branding. See here for pictures: https://imgur.com/a/doRA2 I’m struggling with removing the bezel on this one—I’ll take another crack at it later.

I noticed that it’s now $66 on Amazon.

Looking through the frosted TIR how many wires do you see? Two or six?

Does the head use torx screws?

It’s v2. Two wires on the MCPCB and torx head fasteners on the driver retaining ring.

Interesting…

I’ll second that the Amazon “MF01” SEEMS to be identical to a Astrolux MF01. I was lucky to get it for 49.99, ordered last night, free same day shipping, got it today. So I got my original MF01 under the original group buy (XPG3) so it is the first version of it. I compared the lux (ceiling bounce test with Samsung S8) with the Amazon MF01 and these were the rough comparisons:

Original Astrolux MF01
Turbo ~3.6k lux
Mode 4 ~ 2.0k lux

Amazon “MF01”
Turbo ~3.3k lux
Mode 4 ~1.0k lux

Moonlight was also a little brighter on the Amazon “MF01”. Other modes seem to be the same.

Sorry, this is all I could add, hope it helps.

How long does it stay in Turbo before it steps down? I noticed both my Nicha and Cree V2 versions step down in under a minute. It’s kinda lame if you ask me. No sure if I need to take them appart and replace the thermal material with some Arctic Cooling MX-4?

You will be “lucky” only if it is good quality.
If it is junk, you will be out $50 and be “unlucky”.

Now that you have it, do you consider yourself lucky or unlucky?

I agree. Do you?

I could have bought it at $47, but chose not to. I would install a new Narsil based driver regardless. What worried me was the rest of the light. What if it used low grade crappy emitters (fake xpg3) or had an aluminum mcpcb? I would not feel so lucky then.

I’m not a big risk taker. Lol

Exactly. If this light indeed takes shortcuts, I imagine that $49.00 would easily cost you more than getting a legit one. You would be spending money on medication needed for the headache you’ve endured. lol.

Now that 911 light is $71. It seems to be slowly creeping up in price. Maybe they are trying to figure out how high they can go before people stop buying it.

It’s like they are evaluating the market. Maybe SM WORLD is Mateminco’s sales department collecting market research?

HAHAH, yes I do feel lucky. Feel bad for some of you guys who couldn’t get it for under $50  Since Amazon has great return policies, there was almost no risk involved.

Ceiling test just done on fully charged LGH2s

911-L1
Turbo - 3580 lx
Mode 4 - 1018 lx
Mode 3 - 573 lx
Mode 2 - 321 lx
Mode 1 - 12lx

MF01
Turbo - 4110 lx
Mode 4 - 2097 lx
Mode 3 - 501 lx
Mode 2 - 209 lx
Mode 1 - 8 lx

To compare with some other lights: (all on Samsung 30Qs)
BLF Q8s (Spring bypassed) couple of them - All within approx. 2000-2250 lx
Sofirn sp32a - 528 lx (Turbo)
BLF A6 (1A) - 497 lx (Turbo)

  • Some quick differences notes, my MF01 has a single driver spring, that is off center, actually looks sloppy. The 911-L1 is a double driver spring that is perfectly centered. My original MF01 came with a scratch on the lens, the 911-L1 is flawless. Also, tail cap on 911-L1 is fully anodized, whereas the MF01 tail cap has the bare aluminum exposed on the inside ring.

Charles just made a new video comparison to the 911-L1 and the MF-01. Haven’t seen it yet, but check it out.

Saw the video, They are both basically the same product, Wish I had jumped on the $47 price, it is now $71 and climbing! Will just keep using the Q8 as my flooder…

Maybe if we are lucky the price will go back down after they realize nobody is biting at the $71 price. We’ll see.

Mode 4 and Turbo on the MF-01 mops the floor with the 911.

Luck of the draw, everyone who has ones says they are the same light.
