I’m not sure, this counts as a credible source, but Gearbest customer service says the Utorch S1 Mini doesn’t come with a USB rechargable cell:

I still think it probably comes with the rechargable cell we’ve seen, but if Gearbest can’t confirm that I’m going to wait to see what other people get. A CR123A primary cell is of no interest to me.

Yes according to Gearbest it comes with a 3.0v CR123A primary (non rechargable)

The Freeme post you linked shows a Lumintop 3.7v RCR12A (16340) Li-ion rechargeable battery, with a built in micro USB charging port.

I’d say Batch1 was referring to it not including a 16340 Li-ion, as a generic CR123A is nearly worthless (about $1.00) and not what anyone here really cares about.

.
Originally a photo in the OP in this thread also showed the 16340 USB charging battery, but it appears that photo has been deleted.

I agree it will probably come with the 16340 USB battery, it’s shown being included in this review, and the flashlight was “provided by Gearbest”

Thanks for the info guys! I thought that a rechargeable battery was included when i made my order because of the photo showing a rechargeable micro usb battery, and just now i read that actually it is not. I just made a cancellation request to GB. It is almost impossible to find such rechargeable battery shipped to my country. I hope my order is still not shipped.

Nobody knows what the final package for the S1 will be untill somebody gets a production light. I hope for a lamp like from the video.
I ordered yesterday.
Possible changes I’ve read so far:

- no Hi Led

- no Micro-USB battery

  • changed UI: Hold to turn off and klick to change modes.

Why is it so difficult to write a proper product description before they ship the product?
Video, GB and the Review say it’s a HI led but every pic shows a doom on the led.
Review wrote about another UI and GB writes on the order page no Micro-USB battery. Everything diverges.

I have a bad feeling about this.

I’ve asked the reviewer to check with his contact at Gearbest about the battery.

Personally I’m going to order the light anyway but I’d still like to know what they say.

I asked GB about the battery.
They answered me - CR123A, as in descriprion

:(

Interesting they’d send a primary battery, not sure I’ve seen that before. Also that they sent the Li-ion USB battery with it to the reviewer.

Part of me thinks (hopes) the person answering the question at Gearbest is just looking at their description and not actually looking at one of the lights.

When this type of battery is included with a flashlight they usually advertise the light as having “USB charging” which in this case Gearbest does.
If the USB battery isn’t included then the very first feature listed in their description is false:

Main Features:
• Micro USB charging, easy to use

.
Also, is Utorch a Gearbest exclusive brand? Don’t see the brand sold elsewhere.

Of all the changes the UI is the one that disappoints me most, and it’s a deal breaker for me. I love the Olight Baton style UI demonstrated in the video, and I just can’t get used to short press for mode change and long press for off.

I realise that everyone has different preferences, but for me the S1 Mini has gone from my second most eagerly anticipated light (after the FW3A), to meh.

I really would like to have one of these, but I just keep thinking of the things I would have to modify to my liking. Price is okay with code but when I add in my other mod cost I could buy something already ready to go for about the same thing. I may end up buying one but I really would like some of the questions ask in this thread to be confirmed first.

Thanks, I ordered useless gunk.
The description says:
Main Feature: Micro USB Charging, easy to use

THE FIRST F…ING SENTENCE!

If it comes to be true that it brings a CR123A battery you will need to change the text on OP ad well!!

Honestly, these changes of package content and UI are making me step away from this light! I found it nice as initially presented, but now, I guess I’ll stick with my Olight S1R…

I guess this has nothing to do with Fin17 but with Gearbest, but you have to press them to be committed to what they present! We have expectations and make investments and then we don’t get what we were supposed to get from them.

Please Fin17, make this aware to GB, if it proves that the package and the UI are not as advised on the video and on the descriptions!

I will hold down my horses a little more and see how this goes…
Anyway, thanks for the GB!!

Mine has shipped on Saturday.

I don’t think GB support knows exactly what they ship.
The review seems to have the final product. And product descriptions are rarely spot on.
And you can argue the Lumintop battery isn’t a 16350 because of charging and the cell is a 16300. So it isn’t a RCR123.

When a company writes as first sentence easy charging via Micro-USB and there is no port, well. Handle it with PayPal.

I will report what I get

I didn’t realize about the UI change, I totally agree, I’m having trouble getting used to this on my UT01.

The Olight baton UI shown in the video is my favorite, just like the Thrunite TC20, click ON - click OFF - from ON hold down to scroll levels.

Has the UI change been confirmed?
