Closed Official Haikelite MT09R *UPDATE Now including TA's Pricing for Emitter Upgrades* Closed

I can’t really follow your theory here… We’re talking about the XHP70.2 4000k with 3 emitters producing 23k lumen? That’s more than 7500 lumen per LED. Why should the 5000k neutral white LED now get close to 30k lumen? Won’t 10k lumen fry the LED? Is this even possible? The DX80 has 8 70.2 to achieve 32k lumen…

Yea i dont think that is physically possible with only 3 xhp70.2. but nice to dream about

TA, I am in for one of the drivers for the 70.2! Just message me how to order whenever you are ready.

Thanks for your work on this!

The R&D and testing from Texas Ace (Fellow Texan, here!) is encouraging…but how does it impact those of us who purchased through the group buy?

My 70.2 light is semi functional - All modes work, no glitches, but one LED never turns off :rage: Its on moonlight mode until I physically unscrew the battery tube.
Does this qualify me for a new driver? It would seem cheaper for Haikelite to send me an updated Texas Ace Driver than for me to initiate a return and reshipment from China.

Regardless, I would like to get my problem fixed and also max out the potential for the light.
Include me in a driver buy from Texas Ace if Haikelite won’t make it right.

And where’s my paid-for charger???

Yes, Narsil is great. The cheat sheet is here: New BLF GT Narsil M Cheat Sheet for v1.2 NEW VERSION

The driver itself would only have minor changes. The bigger changes would be to the light itself. If they built what I have in mind it should be over 25k lumens and shed heat MUCH better along with some other smaller changes to improve the design.

Stock xhp70.2 was a bit under 15k lumens on my meter and the xhp35 was around 6k lumens on my meter.

With the new driver the stock XHP70.2 did around ~16-17k lumens and with the new 80CRI M4 70.2 LED’s it does around 23k lumens. With P2 bin 70cri emitters it should do a bit more then that.

Yeah, the tint on this light is great. The 5000k version would give more but not that much more. Should be around ~25k lumens if I had to guess. You are reaching the limits of the batteries at that point.

Yes, DC-Fix is great on this light, I am going to be doing the same on mine.

The xhp70.2 can technically hit over 10k lumens for a few seconds but as it heats up the lumens drop down to around 9k. Although with 3 of them the batteries are the limiting factor.

Also the cooler tint will read higher on the meter all else being equal due to our cheap meters being biased.

I can’t speak for what Haikelite plans to do but I get the sense they plan to replace drivers in lights that have issues.

What a great news. Well done! Texas_Ace.
I think many will look forward to purchase of MT09R with newly improved driver and design.

Any idea what kind of timeline all this will take? Communication between Dale and I is slow to say the least but there has been communication…

I can’t speak for Dales side of things but if I get the go ahead to build the V2 prototype I hope to place the order tomorrow. With express shipping I should get the new boards next week and then a few days for testing. So by the end of next week I should have the design ready.

Then it is just a matter of them sourcing the parts and building the drivers. Can’t say how long that will take. My work should be done by the end of next week if all goes well.

Any chance of just buying the driver from you directly??

Yes, I will be selling a limited number of drivers directly. I am trying to get an idea of how many to order now actually. Thinking I will order 10 to start with. Terry might also be offering them as an option in his lights but I can’t speak for him.

Put me in for one. maybe Haikelite will reimburse me for doing all the footwork AND the repair work

Just to be clear I have nothing to do with this and this has not even been talked about. I am simply selling the drivers directly, unrelated to Haikelite to those that want a TA driver now.

Yeah right, where is my paid-off charger too It’s been a month or so with no sign of charger is being updated.

Put me down for one driver please

Haikelite should have used TA driver + narsilM from the beginning :person_facepalming: talk about ruining a good light. now i have to spend money for a new driver. I might be interested on the new TA driver but really depending on the cost MT09r is already not a cheap flashlight.

Wow, those numbers make my head spin

So your planning is to reach those 9k lumen per emitter? Isn’t that a bit too much? Even Vinh’s lights like the X7vn is “only” doing 7k lumen per emitter, 21k overall. Isn’t this a bit more on the safe side in regards of lifetime and “burning my hand after 10 seconds”? :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks for answering our questions here!

P.S. Hopefully Haikelite will sell the complete light with your driver. I’m very interested, but I don’t have the tool or the experience to do it myself…
