Review: Fitorch MR35 1*18650 RGBW-UV flashlight

Now there are so many single 18650 flashlights, so it is quite difficult for customer( and us, flashlight enthusiastics) to choose. Fitorch MR35 is one of the single 18650 light that caughts my interest, because it has 5 LEDs ( or colours) in it, and it also has usb charging.( it’s a trend now)

1.Unbox
( I forgot taking a picture, so I borrowed a picture from internet :P)

Inside the box we have a holster, a lanyard, a micro usb cable for charging, a spare o-ring and button cover, and an English manual( it supposed to have a diffuser cap, but mine doesn’t have, strange)
The manual is quite useless( for Example, it said it has breathing led, but mine is flashing, not breathing)
There are also some spelling mistake, and some patches were done by hand, but anyway, let’s forget it, we won’t read manual, will we?

2.Design

( Jetbeam II-M on the left, and Fitorch MR35 on the right)
The MR35 uses a single XPL-HD led and 3 XP-E2 RGB led and 1 365nm UV led, covers almost all applications in household using and hunting
The design is…well, not too special for a single 18650 light, its length is about 147mm, and its headdiameter is about 45mm, the diameter of reflector is 30mm

Its Center of mass is not in center of light, but lies near its head, due to its heavy head
The light contains main parts, tail cap, tube, and the head, the stainless benzel can be removed

The build quality is good, better than astrolux and convoy, even can compare with olight, jetbeam or nitecore
Actually the design reminds me about nitecore flashlight because of its black, solid, and big head
It feels solid when holding the light

The clip does its job very well, provides enough strength to keep the light in my pocket
The screw is square, and already lubed from factory

The Glass is AR coated

the Usb port and E-switch is located opposite each other at the body

the tail switch is mechanical, which means there will be no parasite current when the light is off, it can do tail standing, but not reliable because the head is heavy

2.User interface
The MR35 has 2 switches, one is located at tail cap, to turn on or off the light, and one at the body, to change mode
The switch is responsive, but the E-switch at body is quite more difficult to locate compared with other lights
Its UI is quite complex( which is reasonable for a 5-leds lights) but fitorch has done great job for new people to use and get use to
From off, press the tailcap to switch on, default it will go to last brightness of white led( the color leds doesn’t have memory)
Single tap will cycle through 4 brightness white(low-mid-high-turbo-high-mid-low)
Hold the switch at any mode will cycle through 4 different colors(Red-Green-Blue-UV)
Double tap at any mode will go to strobe, and any next double taps will cycle through different strobes
(White stroble-White SOS-red,blue police flashing-only Blue flashing)
3.Power consumption and PWM
All the figures below are tested with NCR18650B and a Clamp DC meter , results may different if using different batteries

White led
Low:~0.01-0.02A(too low to measure accurately)
Mid:0.16A
High:0.62A
Turbo:2.8A

Color leds
Red:0.6A
Green:0.76A
Blue:0.78A
UV:0.44A
i tested the light with 1/24000 shutter speed and naked eyes, no evidence of PWM, the light is fully constant current
4.Usb Charging
The current charging is 0.8A, and will slowly reduce to 0 until the battery is full
Since the tailcap’s switch is mechanical and will open circuit when turn off, so it’s necessary to turn on the light to charge battery
When charging, the green led at the E-switch will flashing and constant on when it’s full
There is a problem, when the green led stop flashing, the light actually wont stop charging the battery, maybe the battery is not full, not a big deal, but I don’t like false inform
The light stop charging at 4.25V

5:Beamshot
Updating in next post

White LED beamshots( all was shot 1m away from the wall, with sony a6000, F4, 1/10s, iso 100, WB 6000k)
from Low to Turbo

the beam is flood as a result of OP reflector and XPL-HD led
Color LEDS( same setup above)

(note: there is also a round circle like other color, but somehow my camera saw it wrong)

Due to heavy off center, the beam of color leds is…not good( or bad if you want to say), this is the trade off between having multi high power leds with single reflector
UV leds is 365nm one, viable light is not much, better than my nitecore tube UV, but worse than convoy s2+ nichia UV
bonus

6.Conclusion
Pros
Having many colors light, and the colors brighness is high
Having many modes, but still easy to learn to use
Usb charging works fine
Build quality is very good for its price
UV light is good
Cons
ugly beam of color leds
low current consumption for 1200 lumen rated light( i doubt this number)
side switch is quite hard to find in darkness
usb charging indication doesn’t work as it should

this is my 1st full review of flashlight, and English is not my native language, so if there are any small mistakes, pls ignore it, but tell me about big mistakes, thanks all of you

Thank your for your review. Hope to see more!

Good review mate your English is good!

As for the light i can handle a little of center LED action. But i think the Colour LEDs would annoy me being like this always.

Thanks for this review. I have been searching for a multi color light. This one is a little large for my needs.

Yeah, the color beamshot is really annoying
But at close range it’s not as annoy as it is in long range
But if you use it as traffic wand, it’s absolutely perfect
I guess that’s a trade off for having 5 high power color leds in single reflector, not like nitecore where they use low power 5mm color leds
