The new Jaxman E3 flashlight comes in the new year

Well done Jaxman! Well done!

+1 jaxman  Thank you very much!!

Thanks! I’ll likely order one and leave a message to request for button-top 14500… Hope shipping flashlight+battery to my country won’t be a problem (unlike shipping of pure batteries)…

Single mode (high only) on a 14500, I take it you’re planning on modding with a different driver?

Anyone else think 22.5mm is kind of thick for an AA/14500 light?

I’d like to know where that measurement is taken, head, tail, or thickest part (anti-roll hex)

I have to wonder will it be much different in size from an E2 or S2+ w/18350

It looks like the E3 is not as lean as the Tool AA but still ok, and it is pretty short.

With the Tool AA, and with my 4sevens mini AA I have the feeling that if I drop it they could deform and the threading gets stuck, the E3 can be overrun by a truck.

Yes I see that, looking at this photo I’d say maybe even overrun by a tank!

.

I wonder if the 22.5 mm is the thickest part (anti-roll hex) or the head or the tail?

Jaxman, can you confirm it?

It does look small in this photo.

.

Could probably even drill that tube out for 16mm:

………………….Max Discharge Current: 18A…………………….

measured lumens with NIMH?

I want to use 14500 and have all modes, plus some increased output (Nichia 219c)
So I was thinking to swap in one of this driver:

Qlite 7135*8 w/guppydrv or NLITE
or
Convoy 7135*8 w/Biscotti

Anyone have an estimate of max lumen output for nichia 219c with the 7135*8?

.
Looks like it already will have copper DTP.

So this is begging for a driver upgrade!

22.5 mm is the outdiameter of the head, not the anti-roll hex. Thank you.

This is what impresses me about Jaxman products. The quality is fantastic. They reveal the internals as well. This is something most manufacturers do not reveal.

Waiting for the host version!

I really like the new driver with moonlight mode and no memory.

Any chance of get this driver also with the host?

Just received new version of E3 without memory. Measured tailcap currents on charged and rested batteries:

mode and battery clamp meter multimeter
mode 1, liion (1) 0.58A 0.47A
mode 2, liion (1) 0.96A 0.81A
mode 3, liion (1) 1.7A 1.53A
mode 1, liion (2) 1.0A 1.0A
mode 2, liion (2) 1.6A 1.3A
mode 3, liion (2) 2.7A 2.3A
mode 1, eneloop 0.04A 8.6mA
mode 2, eneloop 0.35A 47.3mA
mode 3, eneloop 2.3A 2.3A
mode 1, alkaline - 9.5mA
mode 2, alkaline - 53.2mA
mode 3, alkaline - 2.3A

Ai, on li-ions the modes are way too close together, with no proper low, they placed their bets on NiMh’s and alkalines.

Can anyone post any beamshots please?
Thanks for your numbers g_damian :+1:

Yes thanks for the tailcap currents :+1:

mode 3, eneloop………2.3A
mode 3, liion (2)……….2.7A

So Li-ion doesn’t offer much more brightness vs NiMH?

(1) is rested cell and (2) is fully charged? What is the voltage of rested?

W=A*V

So Li-ion is a lot brighter, because 2.7*4>2.3*1.35. (also note voltage of batteries)

(1) and (2) are two different 14500 cells, both charged. (1) is protected, (2) is not.
