Sorry I had to take the site offline without any advanced warning due to a critical security patch that just came out for this forum software. It was fairly painless, but it had to be done immediately. Special thanks to BLF user “cclight” for even beating my security notice service in promptly notifying me about the patch!
Please let me know in this thread if you find any new issues with BLF after this patch.
Since the site came back today after this maintenance you mean?
It might be a temporary problem with the internet routes between the BLF server and you. I’m seeing normal performance at the moment. But I’d appreciate any other reports.
OK, thanks for letting me know. I’m pretty sure it’s just internet transit route congestion between BLF and you, or possibly just a bug with your ISP. But at any rate I’d appreciate it if you could let me know in 12 - 24 hours how it’s going for you.
FWIW, I just tried a few current l-o-n-g threads on a Win10 64bit PC on a ~100 Mbps connection using a mixture of 32 & 64 bit current version browsers including IE, Edge, Firefox ESR, Firefox Quantum, Chrome and Opera and they were all about the same, nowhere close to being slow. I’m in the US though, and can no longer test using a Mac or mobile browser (gave up).
I had read before where someone said things were slower if you’re signed in, and I’d agree that it adds a fraction of a second to the start of loading of a clicked thread link (understandable), but doesn’t seem to throttle the rest of the load at all.
Yep, anonymous users get a cached copy of the page that is blisteringly fast. That’s not a bad idea for @qandeel to try, just log out of your BLF account and see if that changes anything.
