Banggood - I'm done with them

RobertB - That looks like Slim Pickins’ from Doctor StrangeLove

It is, lol… Dr. Strangelove is one of my favorite movies, along with Young Frankinstein.

The clip looks like my clip that comes with the EC11. This one as far as I know is authentic. Came from Longhorntactical, a US based seller.

The lighting makes the color of your first pic look off (brownish). I noticed the black lanyard string also looks sort of brownish.
Me taking a close look at mine, the machining looks spot on, at least the head.
.
The bezel doesn’t come polished, I gave it the Caustic soda treatment and polished. I just had to add some bling to the light. :stuck_out_tongue:

What Hump?

I also bought an MT10A in December 2017. I bought it from Battery Junction, a reputable retailer, I think? The clip and the lettering are identical to yours. The clip is slightly too long, and the writing only says MT10A. I examined my box for spelling or printing errors and it looks fine. It has worked perfectly and I’ve had no problems at all. Maybe we both got fakes, or we both got genuine. Overall, I’m pretty happy with it. (except the tint, now that I know better) I can upload a pic later if you like.

It isn’t a fake, this just seems like they decided to use the same clip from other flashlights on this flashlight and it doesn’t fit well.
The images all say that the actual product may vary from the renders, so technically they are right and have no reason to give you a refund or replacement.
I would suggest contacting nitecore directly and explaining your issue to them.

That clip doesn’t fit, I would have an issue with it as well. Return the light for a refund.

There may be a reason why Nitecore changed it to a clip that doesn’t fit. The head looks quite a bit thicker than the body tube, and if the original clip rested on the body tube just below the head, it could be difficult to use. Trying to work a pocket into that clip, if it required you going around the head first, might have caused too many issues.

Maybe they used a longer clip that stuck out on the head, so that it would be easier to shove into a pocket.

It might work better, but I agree it looks a lot more ugly.

The radius on the bend needs to be larger so that the clip is straight when resting on the head.

I agree with Enderman, contact Nitecore.
And if it’s a fake, start a PayPal dispute.

the engraving, look so poor
i bet it’s fake

The color is just from the lighting, I took that picture with my phone. In real it’s really black. About the knurling I don’t enough to be able to tell. The UI in particular the shortcuts to Turbo, red light, to check the voltage etc all works how it’s suppose to be. The box looks real to me compared to my EC21 box.

I had look around for that serial check online but that’s only for charger, I can’t find it for flashlights.

Remarkable that Greenlight also bought one around the exact time I also bought and we both have the same only MT10A marking on the side. Somehow it’s bit of comfort to know I’m not the only one because I’m starting to doubt it’s a fake one.

I’ll send a mail to Nitecore to see what they’ve got to say about this.

How much you pay for it? Sometimes it is reject goods selling at very low price. So they are printed not similar to premium goods and might put a inferior clip on this one.

It was $50.

The image in this recent post also shows only MT10A, but it has the correct clip. Someone above mentioned they probably changed to a more universal clip that fits multiple lights, and that sounds logical. Please let us know what Nitecore says about it.

Your preferences in a flashlight Post #1

No that’s mine, I use a clip from a cheap flashlight I bought. I could not buy the original one as they don’t ship to Europe.

@bonC, Please do contact NiteCore and find out if it is genuine. And file a PP claim if it is not. I know it’s easier to forget about it, but bait-and-switch fakes exist in the flashlight world exist because of that thinking. Make the world a better place

Do we have any progress with that?
Mike

One thing is certain, the Chinese can put out some really good fakes. I have many interests, magic being one of them. There are a number of different gimmicks that are used to bend coins….that is in a magical way. One of them was designed by an American magician, John Sheets/ He calls it the Quantum Benter….now in its third edition so it is Quantum Bender 3. He makes them himself and the design requires a lot of detail. He sells them for three hundred and fifty dollars. It is very difficult and usually costly to try and patent items in general. Magic is even more difficult. However, even with a patent, the Chinse do not hesitate to copy anything they can make money on. They sell the same item on eBay and express for around twenty dollars….they call it the Power of God.

These two stories about fake Macs just about sum it up.
