Folks, got my Q8 today and top battery tube o-ring was caught in the threads when they screwed a light head onto the tube and it ruined the o-ring it is cut now. Contacted Thorfire and they told me to go pack sand, they do not stock or sell those o-rings. Banggood asked me canned question for the picture when I already included pciture of the issue, they simply do not even review. With that what o-ring do I need to buy and from where? Much appreciate the help. The price we pay to buy "budget" from budget sources
Yes, installed that one but still would like to have two spares not just one. The top is the one that I will be untwisting often to re-charge the batteries, even with Nye 760G it will take some beating quickly. They put two o-rings for a reason. Given that there is no warranty on BLF Q8 not even 30 days warranty, it is not a terrible idea to have more o-rings in the bag. Plus they closed the light with the o-ring right in the thread at the factory. I think it was due to almost no lube on the thread, it was almost dry. I relubed with 760G.
@dvzzz……. If you need one right away or do not want to order them, go to an Auto Parts store & find one that fits. They usually have a very good assortment of sizes.
I haven’t had much luck at auto parts stores. My local Ace Hardware Store keeps a lot more o rings on hand. The local places that carry the largest selection of O-rings by far are going to be hydraulic repair shops. If you live in a fairly large city there should be at least one shop that repairs hydraulics. They carry Master kits with every size and shape O ring imaginable.
Small parts can be hard to find. I still haven’t found the M2.5 x 5mm brass screws for the little Q8 mod. Found them on Amazon but I don’t need 50 of them. I’ll keep looking.
Man I have had great luck…… my ‘parts store’ just about has it all.
Of course it is not your basic generic run of the mill, chain parts store either………… So if someone has only acess to this type ‘parts store’ & not the real deal…… those places Jason mentioned could be a great resource.
Not that I know of. There will be an aftermarket Q8 MCPCB (led4power is working on that, to be available at led4power.com) for 4040 and 5050 leds, but the stock board for 3535 leds is not separately available.
Hey, if anyone here is interested, Texas_Ace is going to build a limited run of calibrated Lumen Tubes/Spheres (with no math involved!) for those that want to measure their Q8 or any other lights actual output. More details are here.
Just got mine from Amazon .com, it came from Texas USA to London United Kingdom.
I did not want it shipped form anywhere else.4 Days to UK with priority shipping, OK I paid over the odds $117 with taxes and duty.
I have to say I am amazed every time I fire it up. I will be doing a few mods tail spring bypass, double A R Coated lens, brass screws, but to be honest it does not need it.
At times it is too bright. Well done to everyone involved in this project.
