Olight S Mini

subbed  :+1:

So is the sale 40% the price listed on that page?

Note S1 mini is aluminum and 16340 power, and S1A has the copper options and is AA powered.

If you like antibacterial tarnished raw copper like me, don’t buy the PVD rose gold.

If you prefer no tarnish titanium plating get rose gold.

There is also the S Mini, if you want 16340, also in the coppers and titanium’s

Illumn.com sells the S1A for $38 with code blacknovember

Cool, best price I’ve seen on the S Mini / S1 Mini. If I didn’t already have four, I’d be all over this.

For beam / tint, the obvious winner is S Mini Ti (and S1 Mini HCRI).

For appearance, the bare copper model is really nice, or titanium, or rainbow titanium.

For price, the S1 Mini is the cheapest and includes a battery with built-in charger.

My main lights lately are:

  • FW3A prototype
  • S Mini Ti (rainbow)
  • Emisar D1 (18350 w/ Anduril)
  • BLF Q8 (w/ Anduril and diffuser (lantern / candle duty))

… which makes the S Mini the only light I currently use which is both unmodded and actually available.

(edit: got the two S1 Mini tints mixed up, forgot the HCRI one had tint issues)
(edit: The S1 Mini is not on sale)

Thanks for the heads up!
I’ve got the S Mini Ti and it’s one of the few light that gets swapped out for my SC62d.
Put a 5000k and some glow tape in it, it’s perfect for an evening light.
I love the 3 minute timer, wish it was a bit longer.
I don’t need a copper version, but it’s a solid little light.

It broke my heart that the website doesn’t ship to my country

I’m curious. What do you use the 3-minute timer for?

Either for lighting or as a timer.
Our bathroom is off our bedroom so when my wife gets up to use the restroom I turn on a low light. We’ve found it’s easier to go back to sleep if you can avoid turning on the bathroom light. With the timer feature I can tail stand the light on my dresser and go back to sleep.
My job involves grinding and I have to fill large coolant tanks. It’s easy to get distracted and forget that the water is on. When the light goes out it is a nice indicator that 1 or 3 minutes have passed. With other lights I’ll use a beacon to remind me.

It’s such a tiny light, always freaks people out when they see the output.

I have a Copper S Mini and really like it. though I hate CW, I improved the tint with a 1/2 minus green filter, but it is still not High CRI

I added a USB rechargeable 16340, highly recommended (sold by 0Light, Fenix and Klarus)

fwiw, the PicoPull XL pictured, is from https://countycomm.com/collections/view-all-storage-products/products/xl-pico-pull-waterproof

and the 16340/18350 black storage container is from https://www.oveready.com/flashlight/basic-battery-capsule-18350-16340/
though it looks like a film canister it is actually 1/2” shorter and .4” narrower… iow, much smaller…

I thought maukka hated the tint shift on the S1 Mini HCRI. Have you heard/seen other reports that it’s not that bad?

correct, the high CRI XP-G3 is very green
all the CW 0Lights are green tinted

green tint is not as noticeable during the day, when our brain is adapted to a sunlight

and most people don’t notice how green their LEDs are, unless they compare them to high CRI Nichias

I use Lee Filters to reduce green tint, maukka has some too

scroll down that page for pics of my CW Copper S Mini with and without minus green filtering

Oh, I recalled that backward, thinking it was the low-CRI one which had beam issues. Post updated.

In any case, seems like a good sale for getting a copper or titanium model. Would be nice if they made copper in neutral white.

OOPS, looks like a typo on my part, it is the S Mini on sale, not the S1 Mini. and the price is 40% off what is on the web page normal price.

I love my copper Maratac AA, but I rarely carry it since I got my S1R. It’s good to know the S Mini copper will tarnish, as I do like that in copper.
I find the mode spacing, easy of carry, and ability to get 300 or more lumens very attractive in the S1R. I also like the magnet, which the S Mini does not have. But I may get the copper S Mini anyway. As much as I like warmer tints, the tint of my S1R is not terrible, in fact unless I compare it directly to my Maratac or Manker Boney nichia I don’t mind it at all.

You can also program for 9 minutes, at least you can with the S1R, but maybe that is too long?

X2

Another light in the Olight S1 format:
The UTorch S1 seems interesting. UI similar and in NW. No reflector only a lens = a lot of flood

Is this worth a try?

Its not High CRI

I just ordered an Olight S1 Mini High CRI, intended as a donor for my Copper S Mini to upgrade to N219b

started reading posts by maukka, and made a collage of some of his charts

Compare the size of the RED R9 CRI bars

the zebras have the lowest Red
the S1 mini has low Red also
which maybe helps explain why those lights have a dominant Green Tint

I bet you saw my modded S-mini now with 219C 3000K 90+ CRI :-p
The S1 mini HCRI is worth buying to salvage the optic and put a Nichia under it (or really, just swap the XP-G3 for a Nichia if you succeed in not killing the driver while disassembling…)

yes, your mod is my inspiration

How do the limited edition colors similar or regular counterpart?
