What you got today

After buying a Lumintop SD26 from FrankA I figured I had to get it’s 18650 little brother. Cool little light. Picked up a Convoy S2+ as well. I don’t know why but I have never had one. Now that I do I really like it. Put the illuminated tail switch in it too. Be nice on the nightstand at night. Picked up another Ganzo too. Tried to get it in one of the Aluminum colors but I couldn’t find them anywhere. Oh well.

that ganzo looks cool, is it an auto?

My new toy arrived

Yeah I had to change out the lanyard. The included on was ok but just looked tiny on this big of a light. I was out of black so until my order arrives these left overs will work.

Yes sir, sure is. Getting harder for me to find. Might be i’m not looking in the right places.

Very nice. Don’t have anything bigger than the Q8 right now. Hopefully soon I will be able to order a mega lumen monster. Nice purchase my friend.

Yes it is. All of my lights have been pocket lights, s2+, wb502, and a tk15 in the mail. I can’t take any credit for this, all goes to very generous Gear Best. Otherwise there is no way I could justify spending this on a flashlight.

I was quickly informed by my 10 year old this is his light, lol. He is out of school today and we stayed up all night playing in the field lighting up the world.

I've been pondering (for many months) those 5K lumens custom Maglites that Matt builds at Adventure Sports Flashlights. Finally ordered a purple one. Uses 2X 26650.

Dangerous in the wrong hands. The turbo timer can be programmed to safe limits with the installed DrJonesGuppy2drv firmware. However, before adjusting the turbo timer (which is OFF out-of-the-box), I wanted to see how hot it would get after 15min. Ouch.

Yikes! That’s dangerously hot indeed.

I like the way you two think. I have a 10 year old boy as well. We would have been outside all night going through batteries like we just won the lottery. I have been on a light buying frenzy the last few months. Time for me to slow down a bit and let the credit card cool off. Although everytime I say that another one pops up that I just HAVE to have.

Nice light. Hope you and the boy enjoy the heck out of it. Nice clean father/son time right there.

My Enogear SS AA light got here today. Cool little AA light. Plenty bright for what I will use it for. Nice 4500k tint. Tail clicky has a great quality feel to it. Has PWM in low and medium that I can’t notice but if I put my ear up to it and try real hard I can kind of hear it. If I wouldn’t have read about it somewhere I never would have noticed.

^ nice little light up there

I got some pure decadence today, a 20.5mmx2mm sapphire lens.

I got it from this aliexpress seller for 9 dollar shipped and I assume it is legid sapphire: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/High-Quality-2-0mm-Thick-Sapphire-Watch-Glass-20mm-29-5mm-Watch-Tool-Replacement-Sapphire-Watch/32860040298.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.wYqoEw

Weird enough I got a message that the item was not shipped, that the tranaction was closed and indeed I received my money back. I will send them a message that I still received it.

I bought it because of a recent discussion via PM about the advantages of HDS flashlights, and the only advantage I could see over a S2+ was the sapphire lens.
Now that is solved for my current EDC, bring in that truck to run it over!

Got an Astrolux K1

Why does it look like a plastic centering ring is sitting inside the reflector instead of under it?

Because it is inside the reflector. I scavenged the center piece from another light and it happens to have a rather high rim. It blocks (the light is not lost but in fact diffused a bit) a bit of light that otherwise would have hit the deepest part of the reflector. The effect is a tiny bit less corona, a tiny bit more spill.

And what makes sapphire lenses better?

They are virtually indestructable, way harder even than mineral glass. Which as said is decadence because the S2+ is as good as indestructable already stock.

You can test it using the water drop test. Google: water drop Sapphire.

Harder means more scratch resistant, but a more flexible lens will be harder to break.

A thick, plastic lens should offer the best protection from breaking.

Exactly. Hardness does not equal toughness.

Nice test, thanks for the heads-up Geuzzz, here it is, would-be sapphire on the left:
