magnetic swivel flashlight holder

Does anyone know where can I find swivel flashlight holder with a magnetic base? or does it even exist on the market.

Like the one nextorch uses

I really wanted one so that I could use it with my AA light, attach it on the car while changing tyre or under the car hood.

I have one like this

https://www.amazon.com/Lisle-70440-Flexible-Flashlight-Magnetic/dp/B007EGCNRG

I use it with my s2+ and it is a tight fit. Don’t have any aa lights anymore so I can’t test it on them.

It look like the Nextorch UL360 that is available on Amazon.

neo71665 I like that one., How well does the magnet hold. Would it take a convoy s2 or s3 and some shock?

Shock no, The magnet is pretty weak. I had planned on replacing it but have never got around to it. Truthfully I rarely use it doing mechanic work and mostly sticking to my grill when I’m cooking during the evening.

That looks like it will do the job.

Also found an other model there which might work better.

amazon

but the trick is finding them on chinese sites since Amazon USA ships to my country only if I pay them a hefty customs clearance charge.

I searched around the normal overseas vendors I look at and couldn’t find anything. You know they are being made over there and sold over here so somebody should have them for sale.

You’re right about that, I still couldn’t find any sellers. I kinda figured out another alternative. Buy a tripod flashlight holder and a ball joint tripod mount will flat base and stick a neodymium magnet beneath it. looks like the whole setup could be done below 5$

Thanks for the links, DoubleA. That ball mount looks interesting to use with one of these gripper clamps:

I like the idea of improvising a magnet mount with it as well. I avoid permanently attached magnets on my lights, because sooner or later I’d forget and demagnetise something, be it my credit card or my hard disk…

My biggest problem with attached magnets is out in the shop, grinding dust and metal shavings. Nothing like grabbing your light with a razor sharp sliver stuck to the end. Even worse is sticking the light to a finished metal panel and embedding metal in the paint or scratching it all to crap. My thumb will at least heal pretty fast.

There were some other interesting ball mounts as well, even one with sticky back for windshield mount.

There are also some interesting grippers as well

I once rolled a heavy speaker magnet through the soil for while and when I picked it up it was covered in tough to remove iron dust. :person_facepalming:

Any magnet that I plan on sticking to my car paint will have an additional layer of foam in front of it. Moreover I tend to choose magnets that are not powerful but can barely hold the weight of the flashlight coz if the magnet is too powerful then one cannot just pull it away but will have to slide the magnet to the edge causing it to scratch all over the surface.
