ENEDED

What light is the one right to the BLF GT? I thought the BLF GT was the biggest one

Olight SR95S UT modded with SST-40.

Interested may be for all three, depending on price.

I have already feedback to them last week. I suspect it is the silicon underneath the switch plus timing issue for programming. They said they will improve the design for the next batch.

Ya, I too suspect it is contact and timing problem that cause the FW to behave oddly.
It seems to be slow to switch on the green LED on the main switch too.

Besides this, I like this flashlight a lot. Thank you for this GB.

Is this group buy still open Mr Freeme??

I bought two Vostros and been thinking about those other lights and maybe one each of the other two if possible.
Besides the already mentioned switch problems I really do like the Vostros but I do believe I’d have preferred the old style with what I was told had a magnetic ring like the ThruNites I have, those switches are rather pointless, they look fancy, but really sort of a waste and really don’t work well so I’ll be changing them all out.
The best thing I just loved about this GB was the shipping speed, I didn’t get much of a notice from Niwalker but I was notified that my lights had shipped and then they were here in just 3 days.
I’ve only seen that once before when I placed a massive order with Maxtoch for our new search and rescue team lights that I ordered and Mactoch shipped them by DHL and it was the same thing, 3 days and suddenly they appeared, I was just as stunned then as I was this time,
I can’t imagine how they can do that but they do and can and all for just $25, what a great deal,
I’m a very happy and grateful member of this group buy that’s for sure and so thanks again Mr Freeme, you do such a great job on your GB’s.
Gary….

Deal is still available. Subscribe this thread if you wish to receive more updated group buy news in future.

There have been some concern regarding the buttons. Manufacturer said they might consider to replace them with control ring. You guys do leave a comment for your preference. Niwalker is gathering our BLF Niwalker owners (soon to be owners ) to improve on their up-coming lights. VOSTRO design has been well-received by the public, so they are going to put more effort to improve and expand this series.

We might have a few minor hiccups but I was glad that majority of the buyers received their lights within a reasonable time frame. If there is anything you would like us to improve on, please do not hesitate to feedback to us.

In my view, don’t use control ring.
Just improve the existing UI responsiveness and accuracy are enough.

Interested in BK-FA30S

I to don’t think the magnetic control ring is the answer and if they did go to the control ring then they are going back to their own 2013 interface, they just need to improve their driver and maybe if anything loose two of those buttons, and try the ramping UI’s perhaps.
I think the magnetic ring was a Thrunite idea, I’ve got a number of them and they are alright that’s a fact but there is a better way to go now.
NIWALKER Vostro BK-FA01 & BK-FA02
This review is from 2013, and I don’t think the XHP35’s had come out yet, plus the ramping UI’s are completely new so that would really put Niwalker up in the A+ class IMHO.
Thank you for the reply Freeme, I might get another light before the end of the weekend, I just spent a few hundred last night and now shipping them to T/A for modding.
Geez, when will it stop, I know, when I die,
But I can assure you that in my final will there is a line that says which lights are going in that box with me, there is absolutely no way that I’ve spent this much money on lights and then not have a light when I need it the most… certainly wouldn’t want anyone sneaking up on me…. Ha.

No control ring please …. That thing is a nightmare for modders.

Go with ramping like TA narsil.

I am interested in the MM18JR 70.2 depending on price

In my opinion ramping is overrated. Its use is limited and is meant for adjusting output only. Most of the time users are using flashlight, not adjusting it’s output with such a fine steps.

Control ring is realy good as long as you have an on-off button switch as well.
Ramping is a gimmick……only for showing off :stuck_out_tongue: ……which I am guilty of
I have only 2 suggestions….

  1. make the mode switch flush with body so it does not get in the way and on-off switch to protrude (so it is easy to feel for in the dark).
  2. Have the rear button as a dedicated (or programmable) turbo switch.

………just my 2 cents worth :innocent:

edit to add, I am loving my new Vostro. It is a huge improvement over my old ones in every way!!!

……oh, and 3. make it more powerful :smiling_imp:

Ordered BK FA30S

You must not be familiar with it or else not use powerful flashlights with it.

On a high powered light the fine output level control allows you to control the heat. I will typically set my 9000 lumen Convoy L6 to about 70% power for typical use. This keeps the heat down and makes the batteries last longer. I can then dbl click to 100% for short bursts since the heat and battery drain is massive. Then it will go back to my preset 70%.

I also have a smaller light that I typically set at about 2000 lumen, depending on my needs. Dbl click for 4000 lumen, for short bursts due to high heat and battery drain, then go back to the memorized 2000 lumen.

You really can’t do this with typical drivers that have low, med, high unless you program the drivers yourself to custom levels.

Plus Narsil has extra stuff like the 2 digit battery voltage. You will know if your at 3.4v, 3.8v, 4.1v, etc… It’s much better than the different color lights that represent a range of voltages.

It’s not quite as useful on low powered lights like the GT or similar xhp35 lights where you either use 2A or 2.5A all the time. You still get the other features of Narsil, though.

So I would not be too quick to judge ramping.

I have the Ultrafire UF-T50 6 years ago, it was the earliest flashlight with ramping, it was fun but not really useful. Of course ramping get faster now and more advanced.
And I get BLF GT this year and I don’t use its ramping after playing with it. It is just adjusting output where a few well-spaced levels are enough for most people. Zebralight do it with a lot of levels to suit everyone. Of course some people still complain those level don’t suit them. For these people I think multiple programmable levels will suit them much better and faster than ramping.

I am talking about ramping, not voltage check feature.

I think I judge thing quite objectively and after I used them and think about its speed and purpose. When I use flashlight, I don’t want to ramp and make judgement is the brightness enough. I just click to levels predetermined for example 10, 50, 100% depending on application. Why double click to turbo when you can single click to turbo, it is so comfortable without off and on again due to double click.

Even high power flashlight can have predetermined levels that don’t consume too much battery power nor heat up too fast. I don’t think only ramping can do this.
With thermal regulation, single click to turbo is not a problem, it will drop to suitable output based on temperature, and that will save battery power too.

I want the Vostro BK-FA30S Thanks//Larry

Thanks for your inputs, i will definitely share it with Niwalker. I find predetermined or customizable levels are much more convenient than ramping too.
